I just bought the Super Champ X2 as my first amp to go with my first electric guitar, which is a Fender American Standard Strat. I have been playing acoustic for a couple of years, but I am new at the electric scene. So this maybe a stupid question. Is there a list or a reference of what the different voice models should sound like? Meaning how can I find out what type music or genre or artist would Tweed,Tweed Bassman, 65 Princeton, and all the other amp models be used for? I get the 90s metal and 2000 metal. Is there a reference per artist, song or genre to know what voice model to use? Again sorry for the probably stupid question and Thanks for any advise.

Check out this site. It's about the Mustang, but all the amp models and effects are the same.

Here's another good one

Thsnks for reply, I will check them out! A friend of mine let me borrow his Mustang III , which I really liked with all the presets . But the music store talked me into the Super Champ and I am finding it harder to dial in the different sounds, being new to amp sounds. Kind of wish I went with the lll.

I have a Mustang 1 and a Super Champ X2. I find the SC is much easier to adjust and tweek sounds and tones. And I think overall, the SC sounds better than the Mustang, but I'm sure a lot would disagree. They're both very good amps. And each needs you to spend some time finding your perfect tone.

Thanks again for reply.I still have my friends Mustang lll and I started playing around and looking at all the preset settings on the LCD display and started adjusting the Super Champ dials according to the Mustang settings for each preset and I am now getting the Super Champ voices sounding pretty close to each Mustang preset. So it's actually teaching me a lot on tweaking and adjusting the dials. Any chance you have used the fuse software and can explain how to import a fuse presets on the Super Champ from user created presets ? When I go to import a certain preset, I get a pop-up box that says import from preset . Then gives you a box to check on Voice >amp settings or stomp settings? Also another box for effects>Mod settings or delay settings or reverb settings. Then another box to check for band settings. How do I know what boxes I want to check ? I tried to open the fender fuse >super champ manual, but the webpage seems to be down?

I'm not sitting in front of my amp, so I'll try this from memory. You can go the the Fender preset website, for either Mustang or SC. Find the preset you want and download it. It should go into a folder, under Fender Fuse, named Presets. If it doesn't go there, move it to that folder. Now connect your amp to Fuse. On the right side, select computer, on the left side, click Open. Navigate to the preset you just downloaded and open it. This should put it into your amp. You can now tweek it in your amp, if you want.
For the Mustang, press Save and pick which "slot" you want to save it to (slot 0 through 99, I think). The entire preset, amp and effect, is saved there.
On the Super Champ, press Save Amp and select which of the 16 amp slots to save it to. Then press Save Effects, and pick which of the 15 effects slots to save it to. The SC saves amp models and effects separately and you mix any effect with any amp model.
This all sounds more complicated than it is. Play around with it, you can't break anything. You can reset all the of the amp presets to the factory settings on both amps.

Thanks again , I did that and it seems to have worked. Just to make sure , now when I want to use that preset, I need to put the voice dial on the voice # I selected and then set the effects dial to effects slot I put it correct? Now if I unplug my computer from amp the preset will still be in that position correct? Also I noticed the name of the actual preset Lynyrd Skynyrd did not show up on the voice amp names, it just changed it to whatever original voice setting the preset was created from, I guess I just have to remember what presets I put where. I am kind of getting spoiled having this Mustang lll sitting here with all the digital LCD presets. I am enjoying seeing all the presets and their actual dial settings. I agree the Super Champ sounds a bit better, but I wish it came with the LCD screen to see the names of all the voices and way to store more presets. Oh well, I will get it down. Thanks again

Yes, select the number for the voice and effect, and they're there. As far as the name, this only appears in Fuse at the top on the voice select and effects select dials. And, for some reason, they don't show up until you close Fuse and restart it. Yes, an LCD display would be nice but I think Fender wanted to keep the interface as simple as possible when not connected to a computer.
