I have a 65 Twin Reverb Reissue amp bought 9 months ago, I use it 1 to 2 hours per week at home. Lately I started to notice a slight noise as static, but recently increased to sound so strong that it interferes with what you're playing becoming intolerable. The noise sounds like it was a thunderstorm coming through the speakers even when not connected to the guitar. I read the Instruction Manual and follow directions for hum balance adjustment but could not fix the problem. Also I changed position of the amplifier to another room and plugged into a different outlets to see if it could be any electrical interference. All outlets in my house are well grounded. Checked the tubes if there where loose but not was the case, I noticed that everyone had an orange light of equal intensity. The amp was bought in USA and then take it to Honduras, I can make use of the Fender warranty but will have to send it to the U.S. making it difficult and costly to repair. I have not been reviewed by any technical precisely not to spoil the warranty. The question I have is if anyone has had this same problem as solving achievement, on the other hand it may be an easy problem to solve and not meriting send the amp to the USA. Please await your comments and your help in this regard.

Not easy to answer ,

First , remove each tube and put in their socket , many times , this will "clean ' contacts.
If you have always your noise, remove the first preamp tube, the one at right when you look a the back of your amp.
1- Power "on" the amp without this tube , No noise , replace this tube ,

2- Noise : do the same thing with the second tube, second at right.
3- Do that with each preamp tube until you find the "bad" ( ? ) one.

Amp must be at OFF when removing / plug tube

This is not sure you'll fix it even whit a go tube, Your problem could be a bad solder or connecion in power supply circuit.

Better to find a good amp tech if you can't find the problem.

Thanks for your help, I already ordered 4 power tubes and 2 preamp tubes to make what you suggest. If I get good results I will let all know.

You don't need to ordered tubes to do what I suggest. Tubes are very expensive . Do those test I suggest before. The way I suggest . It take less than 30 minutes.

Some chance are all tubes are good and it is a bad solder inside

I experimented with all preamp tubes removing one at a time and turning on the amp to hear if the noise continued. As a result only when I removed one of the preamp tubes the amplifier made no noise, this occurred when removing the tube (GT-ECC81-S or 12AT7) which is located next to the larger tubes or power tubes.
One problem is that in my country don´t sell that kind of tubes, but I already ordered to have spare parts and I hope to receive in about 2 weeks. As soon as I change the supposed bad tube I'll let you know if I solved the problem or not. I hope so. What do you think??

Good tests,
No noise ONLY when removing the 12AT7 (the phase inverter tube) means that the noise is look coming from the tube before this 12AT7 or the circuit between them . Or from the 12AT7 tube or his circuit

The only thing you can try is replace these tube, a 12AX7 and the 12AT7. But chance are static could be a bad solder in circuit or noisy resistor.

ALSO;
Try to remove the 4 power tubes , few time , this clean ths socket and tube's contacts. We never know if these high current tube's contact do some problem ......

I finally received the replacement tubes 12AT7 and 12AX7A and proceeded to change them but the results were not good because the amplifier noise persists. Apparently the problem is more serious than a damaged tube.

Another issue of the problem is the following: As you know the 65 Twin Reverb amp has 2 channels normal and vibrato, when the volume on both channels was turned off there was no noise at all, when I put max vol on the normal channel and no volume in vibrato channel still there was no noise, but when I turned on the volume in vibrato channel the noise increased proportional to the volume intensity even when volume in normal channel was on or off.

This is so much easier in English. :)

From what you've posted in both threads, it seems that the noise could be from the circuit of a tube in the vibrato channel (V2 or V4) or the reverb driver (V3), as stratele52 suggested, possibly Plate resistors or solder joints, or even loose or dirty socket. Did you try the new tubes in those positions also?

Kind of Funny, stratele52 native language is French, and he is helping on a Spanish forum using English. My native language is English and I'm trying to help using Spanish. And you posted in both English and Spanish. I hope that it isn't too confusing.

There is an English part of the forum also.

Hi,

I believe you are facing similar problem as mine. Actually the crackling noise started developing after a year of so of the purchase. I threaded the net for solutions but none of it useful. I also replaced all the preamp tube and power tubes with new ones but no improvement. Incidentally, some brand new groove tubes (pre amp) were far more noisier than the old ones!!. After a week or so examination I finally traced the problem with the connectors!!. THe 65 Twin reverb has two main circuit boards - one for the control panel and the other the main board. There are 3 connectors connecting the main board with the control panel board (1) for the clean/normal channel, (2) for the vibrato channel and (3) for vibrato controls. The problem lies with the vibrato channel connector. I disconnected and clean the pin with solvent and depressed the pin socket a bit inorder to make more secure contacts. Check the cable crimping!! also. Thereafter the noise the gone!! it was very clean and sweet sounding again. The same noise reappeared a year or so later again did the same cleaning and the noise disappeared. Athough this I replaced the Power tubes with a rated 10 after proper baising. I presume, tubes are high current carrying devices, and so over time oxidation occurs in the contact (provided no component failure occurs). I wish fender Corp address this issue with modification in the design. This is just my suggestion otherwise the amp is great. Anyway just sharing some tips, your problem with amp may not be same as mine.
