I often play through both my v2 Mustangs (MIV & MIII) by feeding a split signal from the guitar. This works great for a much fuller sound and for interesting blends of Presets and FXs from the amps. With two 4btn fsws, this is really nice.

Now, rather than split feeding the guitar to each amp, I want to see how connecting the MIV's FX Loop Output to the MIII's FX Loop Input, adds to or detracts from the results.

I welcome all suggestions, comments, and input from other Mustang owners.

You must have a whole lot more energy than I do. Just setting up one Mustang IV for a gig takes more time than I'd like once you figure in the 2 button, 4 button, wireless receiver, and mic to the soundboard. I can't imagine doubling it would be worth the extra effort.

Those are literally the easy plug and play steps! The work is ahead of time, configuring the EXP-1 assignments for each of the Custom Presets. Fortunately, Remuda makes it easy to create Song Set Lists, assign multiple Presets to each Song, sort the Presets by Name or Number, Drag and Drop rearrange the Presets and even Drag and Drop the FX Signal Chain! Thereafter, simply select a Song from the Set List and the assigned Presets automatically populate the Footswitch QA button assignments.

Interconnecting the Mustangs, I'll try a few configurations this wknd, to see what works best.

Boo, thought I would chime in here. Before I started using my Floor and Stang amp almost exclusively I was using and still can use my two 65 Deluxe Reverb tube amps with a switcher http://www.tonebone.com/switchbone.php for a whole panoply of sounds along with two tube distortion units by the same company.

The stereo combinations of sounds was everything I hoped for *but* one day I tired of replacing tubes and always feeling like not firing everything up because of all those dang tubes. That is like twenty light bulbs I was turning on every time I went to play along with warming them up on standby. Never looked back once I started tweaking my Stangs and I still use a few outboard pedals with them. Old Morley volume/wah and this http://www.tonebone.com/classic.php

More importantly I am saving my ears because I can get good sound at lower volumes than with using my two tube amps.

Absolutely! The broader sonic palette and fuller sound field at no higher SPL is the benefit of running both amps.

I tried several configurations. The best and most versatile is what I had been running. Guitar to A/B/Y Box feeding both Amps. Each w/ a 4btn fsw, one w/ an EXP-1. Might add another EXP-1 for the other Amp. Master Vol on each Amp set to the same approx SPL and all Customized Presets are approximately level balanced. Any Presets may be used on either Amp as desired.

Alternatively, patching one Amp's FX Send to the other Amp's FX Return works great, and w/o any gain loss! Master Volume of Primary Amp does not affect the FX Send's line level. In this configuration the second Amp acts as a powered spkr cabinet with its own Master Volume. Once its Master Vol is set to the desired matching fill SPL of the Primary Amp, the second Amp's volume level slaves (gain rides) to the main amp.

Also tried feeding the primary amp's FX Send to the secondary Amp's main instrument input. Although this works, the FX Send's line level (from the primary amp) is far lower than the guitar's signal level (even when split via the A/B/Y box). This necessitates that the second amp's Master Volume be set much higher than typically it would be regardless what the selected Preset's modeled amp's Gain and Vol parameters are.

The first method works the best, but requires the A/B/Y box. The second method also works great.

Having gotten a Line 6 Relay G10 several weeks ago, another configuration to run two amps at once is available.

It involves using both of the G10's rear Output Jacks: 1/4" Female TS, and Male XLR, which are always on. They provide simultaneous signal routing of a guitar's G10 Transmitter received signal to two amps at once. [Note: a Female XLR to 1/4" TS cable is required to connect to the instrument input of the second amp.] This is an alternative to routing the XLR Output DI to a console, FOH, or DAW.

A G10 owner posted a YouTube Video about the technique to achieve a blended tone: https://youtu.be/KjNlfZ9q6RQ
