Preset Renaming w/ Remuda's is Quick and Easy! As with other edits, this needs to be done when Remuda's Direct Mode is Unlocked.

Remuda provides a generous Preset name field length for entering characters that legibly display in the App. It would be handy if Remuda displayed a marker on the Name Entry Field denoting the end of Amp's Seventeen (17) character LCD Name Display field. This would allow entering Names that are both complete when viewed in Remuda and also informative when viewed on the Amp's LCD.

Yeah that default thing is kinda weird with Mustang/Fuse.
When I was messing around attempting my Fuse editor I wondered about the defaults.
Each amp has start settings - but they are pretty random - just whatever Fender thought sounded good.

Haven't you found it annoying to try a different amp on the Mustang, only to lose all your gain/bass/treble settings?
So Remuda app ditches them.
As the developer the only way to find out their values is save loads of presets at default values then read (or access via code ) the xml - not much fun!

I have to buy an android tablet it seems.

I've not used FUSE connected w/ the Mustang. Now that I have a long USB Ext'n cable I will in the next few days....

Regarding the Mustang's Seventeen (17) Amp Models & Forty-Four (44) FX Units, I have found it convenient that each time I select any combination of these from the Mustang's ROM Menu's they come in with the Mustang Factory default settings. After I adjust any parameters as desired, I have the option to, either, simply spin the Data Wheel and move to another Preset and nothing is Saved nor Overwritten, or, I can Save the result as a Custom Preset to any of the One Hundred (0-99) Memory Preset Slots! These are great options for Demo Mode!

Remuda has its Direct Mode and Performance Mode. It would be teriffic if Remuda had a Demo Mode! Amp and FX settings could be temporarily held in the Android cache and demoed by switching between a few of these before detemining which ones to actually Save to Memory Preset Slots.

The way Remuda works now, once you're in Unlocked mode to demo anything you are one hit "OK" away from writting to the Amp's Preset! As previously posted, Remuda does not have a numerically precise value setting method. Remuda also does not have anything funtionally equivalent to the Mustang's Something Has Changed Notification (when the Red Light appears under the Save Button.

With Remuda's sliders closely positioned (even on an 8.4" Tablet), inadvertent changes can and have happened. When there was any doubt, it required Cancelling out, and then returning to very carefully edit the dialog's values. If any one (or several) of the dialog's value settings changed while exploring, needed to be reverted to their original values while others were to keep the new values, there is no easy way to get them back to their original values. There is no reference marker and no numerically precise display of the value.

I guess the developer didn't do a great deal of user testing.. but with your feedback Music Law he can look to make improvements for a version 2.
Here's betting he does that MUCH faster than our friends at the Fuse factory!

Remuda vers. 1.0 is very impressive! Any revisions are likely to make it even better.

Remuda could use a Keep Screen On feature. Currently, once the Direct Mode screen times out, awakening the tablet causes Remuda to re-establish the USB connection, rescan the Amp's presets, and scroll the entire Presets List.

Also noticed that while playing (sound coming out of the Amp), toggling any of the active FXs via Remuda's Direct Mode Tabs (Stomp, Mod, Delay, Reverb) atop the display causes a momentary disruption of the Audio! This does not happen when using the Amp's onboard buttons nor the Footswitch! This could be an issue inherent with the USB interface timing or Android's handling of same and not a Remuda deficiency. I have yet to see if Remuda allows toggling the FXs from Performance Mode.

A 10" USB Extension Cable between the Fender furnished 4' USB Mini to USB Cable and an OTG cable adapter works great to comfortably give the Tablet or Smartphone plenty of reach to use Remuda w/ the Mustang. :D

An Active USB Extension Cable (32') did not work with the Tablet nor Smartphone! Apparently, neither device provides power to the cable's active component sufficient to boost the USB Signal. The 32' active cable does work to connect FUSE from my Desktop PC to the Mustang! :D

32' is twice the length of what USB cables are rated for, so yeah, you do need some way to boost the signal. I'm surprised it works on the PC, but perhaps it automatically boosts the signal and relaxes the timing when the incoming signal is weak.
Direct link works fine from a Sony phone here with built-in OTG support, but with a 6' cable. It eats batteries, of course.

The PC's fully powered USB ports have plenty of Power (Voltage and Amperage) to power the Extension cord's Active electronic component (essentially a booster amp) sufficient to comply with the USB 2.0 480Mbps spec!

As for Remuda, it displays best on the 8.4" Tablet. On a 4"+ smartphone the display is much tighter particularly if using a large Font Size.

Tuner Mode for Remuda?

As Remuda already controls, reads and displays the status of various Mustang v2 Amp features, it would be really helpful if it toggled the Amp's Tuner Mode and displayed a nice large(r) Tuner Display than otherwise visible on the Amp's LCD display (MIII/IV/V) or 4Btn Fsw's LEDs. With eyes on the Tablet running Remuda, there's less need to look at the Amp's display.

Remuda's Developer advised that he will probably be adding features for a 1.1 release sometime in early November.
Hopefully, in just a few weeks we'll see some nice enhancements!
If you're using Remuda, post your comments and suggestions. If you're not yet using it and have any questions feel free to post them here so all may share in the learning.

Definitely the most exciting thing that happened to Mustang in a loooong time, and unfortunately, it's note fender that did it. Driving from Android is a must have in this day and age. I already have an android tablet on my pedal board (I use it to play drum machine, backing tracks, see lyrics, etc...)

I was working on an android version of my own, looks like someone beat me to it (good for them, I just don't have the time).

Mine was going to emulate the Fuse interface pretty closely:

I was having reliability problems with usb communication, looks like the remuda dev solved the problem.

I like some of the additional options the dev is offering. Will definitely check it out when I get home

For personal home exploratory/experimental use, your UI looks very cool, as it closely resembles FUSE. Thus at a quick glance it is very recognizable and easy to see what you've got configured. Nonetheless, I would expect Fender to promptly respond with a Cease and Desist Notice regarding alleged infringement of their Intellectual Property and Copyrights, if such were ever offered for commercial sale or distribition without prior clearances and approval authorizations from Fender and any involved technology copyright owners. I have. Not read FUSE's EULA fine print to see if Fender has licensed any third party technology for inclusion in FUSE, nor do I not know if Fender may have outsourced any portions of FUSE's developement.

As far as I can discern from my use of Remuda, it is an entirely independenty created software App, neither conflicting with nor infringing upon Fender FUSE. Remuda does numerous things that FUSE does not. Conversely, Remuda is not a substitute for FUSE, as there are features of FUSE that Remuda does not provide.

To the extent that you maybe so inclined, I encourage you to email Remuda's developer to share any suggestions you may so care to pass along. If it helps to yield a better App, it is good stride forward for all Mustang Android device App users.

The REMUDA Android App for the Fender Mustang Amps has just been revised to version 1.3. This latest version now supports the Mustang vers. 1 Amps, and brings new and improved features to the User Interface and Performance Mode! REMUDA LITE is now available FREE. This is identical to the fully featured version 1.3 except that it is limited to Eight (8) Presets.
