I know from looking on the forum and elsewhere that you can't have the compressor and distortion as two, on-at-the-same-time effects. I doubt I'm the only one that wants this functionality. Hey Fender, can you please work this into the next software/firmware update of Fuse? Please? (If there is something I'm missing and you can have both cooking, I'd love to be proven wrong :D ).

Playing around with the SAG and BIAS options on Fender Fuse can help give you some of the compressor sound you're looking for. SAG will alter the compressor sound, while BIAS on low will give a clearer sound and BIAS on high will give a more gainy sound. The BIAS basically simulates how an amp's valves would be fed power and the SAG determines how the valves would handle that power.

I seem to remember you can load the compressor either in 'stomp' category or the 'mod' category. It's the only effect that's available in more than one category. At least it's that way on the Mustang IV as I remember. Granted that may not be what you're looking for if you're trying to achieve a smoother (less peaky) overdrive. That's one of the reasons I bought a separate compressor pedal so I can ensure the compressor is first in the chain of effects.

Although SAG would also provide something similar to a limiter function it won't help with sustain or low volume boosting of the signal as a compressor does. That's why I opted to deal with it on a separate pedal prior to the signal going to the DSP stage of the amp.

This has been brought up several times in the past for Fender's consideration so I'm sure it will be considered for future revisions. But there are a couple of alternatives until then.

@dunedin Dragon - nope that's the Wah - compressor can only be a stomp.
Then again the Black box distortion can do some great sustain, which is the same as compression.

Ah.. the Sustain knob I was thinking of is on Big Fuzz.. but nevertheless Black box does good compression and the gain effect can be dialled in smooth 'n creamy.
