What's the highest volume you've played a Mustang II V.2 at & were there any undesirable sounds?
Please select the highest volume with no problems and highest volume with problems. arth1, the point of this forum is not to have users test them all, but to post about the ones they've used. That way, there's at least a small collection of data to go off of. Guidelines rather than complete directions.
Arth1's point is well stated: "This poll is asking way too much of the participants."

If you start hearing anything undesirable -- regardless if from the DSP or Speaker -- simply turn down the various level settings just a bit. This is the key to Gain Staging! You ears are your guide. With the Mustangs I have, I've been able to find sufficient headroom to get the sounds I want. YMMV with the MII v2.

Aside from myriad permutations amongst different Mustang Amp models, Presets, and their on-board FXs (as you may configure them), perhaps the greatest wildcard may be the Guitar's Pickups!

Even with the identical pickups in my Les Pauls, depending on how I have them configured for Humbucker mode, Split Coil mode, Phasing, and their Volume Pot setting, the output signal varies dramatically! Factor in String to Pickup height variations, and it varies even more. With Strats there are even more variations amongst Pickups (Brands, Models, Single Coil vs. Humbucker), and different wiring configurations (passive vs active tone circuits, etc.). One guitar can be quite distinct from the next! Where one of mine (configured one way) may easily overdrive a particular Mustang Preset & Effect configuration, another may not.

I apologize in advance for the use of CAPS; I simply needed to point out some obvious points that some posters have missed.

Hence the reason I'm asking for how YOUR MUSTANG II HAS PERFORMED. I don't need to know everything and ALL the variables, just enough to have a general consensus (KNOWING FULLY WELL THAT IT WON'T BE AN END-ALL-BE-ALL DATASET.) NOT THE MUSTANG III OR IV OR V, THE MUSTANG II.
I specifically asked for how the voters' setup fared, asking for effect details and that's it. I am experienced, but cautious in the use of my equipment and am trying to build a small knowledge base of SETTINGS, not POINTED STATEMENTS that say things I ALREADY KNOW.

Please post if you have something that pertains to the actual subject of the forum instead of vomiting irrelevant information. Posts that clarify (like that of dunedindragon) are welcome. Those like arth1 and variants of that try to point out the uselessness of this poll are not. I have a reason for making this poll and though I haven't posted on this forum until recently, I have been using it for a long time. I am an experienced musician who does not need to be bothered with trolls.

Rant over. Please post if you have something useful to add to the poll question posed.

I think you just managed far better than anyone else to chase people away. If you can't take constructive critique but harp on about how the intended audience aren't following your demands and yell at people... Well, you might be seen as somewhat strange, just saying. But what do I know, it's not like I have any experience with the forums and how its participants react compared to you...

*shrug*

Sounds good. Either no one will post and I'll be exactly where I started from, or people who are willing to comment on the actual purpose of this poll will still comment and I won't have to put up with irrelevant information. It's a win-win for me. 8)

Just turn it up and use your ears?
That's worked for me over the years, though if all the band are making a big noise it may not be so obvious in heat of the moment.
Really there's far too many variants here for anyone to give a definitive answer.
If you have everything on 11, yes, you will blow the speaker. That's what amps do.

The problem with talking about settings and output is the variability in drive level. A guitar with an internal preamp or a pedal can drive the amp to clipping at low volume settings, where a humbucker may need to be turned way up to get any volume at all.
All solid state combos are designed to handle the maximum output of the amplifier without blowing the speaker. Most players are not conservative about settings and go pedal to the metal. Manufacturers take this into account and reduce warranty claims by installing speakers that can handle whatever the amp can throw at it.
Running a SS amp to maximum power results in clipping the sine wave into a square wave. At clipping levels, the full DC voltage of the power supply is applied to the output transistors and the speaker for a relatively long period of time. This produces excessive heating in the transistors and the speaker coil which can damage the speaker or transistor if it is clipped for an extended period of time.
You won't hurt anything for short duration clipping.
You will be able to hear clipping plainly as a nasty buzz in the tone.
If you need to turn it up to the point of constant clipping, your amp is just too smal and needs an upgrade to more power.

I concur except TimsAudio hit the nail punch directly onto the head of the galvanized finish nail and that nail hole now has just a tad of caulk and paint.

THAT'S the spirit- I' m totally with you.
I've painstakingly designed questions (on other forums mainly) yet Still I get many useless renponses. People (in general) can't help giving their opinions even when they're blatantly irrelevant... like someone who turned up a Mstng IV?! and the person that actually said something like "try it yourself and see what happens..." Wow- sage advice:)
Then finally someone just below that offers precise relevant info and it finally is worthwhile.

That's MY RANT W/CAPS!!! :)
