I was using some cheap adapter to plug 2 guitars into the input of my mustang's instrument jack but the tip broke down and it's stuck inside , i can't plug any cable now and i don't know how to fix it, should i open up the mustang???
How or what screws will give me acces to the jack so i can pull out the freaking tip???

Thanks

Often those amp use a completely sealed black plastic input jack with no access from the inside the amp .

Best way but you may try it (?) is to use long and thin nose plier ( or other tool ) to pull the broken part from the front .

If you want to look inside ; I never open this amp , but hundred other models
Remove the 2 screws from the top of the amp .
Look at the rear too and under the chassis where you may find some other screws.
Pull the chassis from the rear or from the back , you have to see by yourself .

If you are unlucky you may broke or damage some printed circuit solder.
Your photo is too poor to help us.

Or try this risky operation :
Put a dab of your favourite high strength glue on the end of a thin metal rod
(I'd advise epoxy resin rather than superglue)
Insert so it makes contact with tip - let glue dry and pull gently
It might work!
oh .. use the broken jack, if you still have it , as the puller

Depends on what broke off. If the most common scenario, only the very tip came off, the little hot conductor "bullet". If so, get a drywall screw (pointier tip than wood screws) and put it in and turn it a bit. In many cases it will go into the tip's hole and the threads will grasp it so you can pull it out. In some cases it won't because as you pull the 90 degree angled edge of the bullet will catch on the ground tang's edge. Sometimes it will come right out. If not you may be able to push the ground tang up a little if you can get a VERY thin metal thing like maybe a hat pin in there past the drywal screw, and it you can move it even a tiny bit the bullet may be able to be pulled out. If not, opening up the amp will give you access to that tang so you can pry it away from the jack a bit and they pull the bullet out with the screw.

The other possibility id the bullet still has the rod attached and then you may be able to pull it with needlenose. Thats much less likely tho, and you still may have the issue of the edge catching.

What do the insides of those look like? I'd be willing to try to drill the end of it out and see if the tip can just be pushed out.

Otherwise how handy with a soldering iron is the OP?

Hello all,

If your amp needs service please follow the link below to find an Authorized Service Center near you. If your amp still has it's warranty (5 years in the USA) please make sure you have your proof of purchase. Even if it is out of warranty they may be able to assist you. Opening up the amplifier to repair yourself will void any warranty that the amp may have. I have also included a link to our warranty information. I hope this helps, and let me know if we can assist you further.
