OK, I have some free money now and I will have more not a long :) And because I always lose money quickly so priority is to buy something music/guitar related. Probably amp.
Right now i have Mustang I v2. I like this amp very much. Actually at my level and experience it's not necessary to change amp and my mustang is great for practicing. But. There are some things about its sound which I really don't like, however I'm not 100% sure if this is amp or my guitar/pickups or small knowledge about effects and amp settings so I will have to playtest it first but this can be different problem - i live in a shithole(sorry, but no other words can describe it ;P) so i will have to go to some bigger city but nevermind than. What i wanted to say - I like clean sound especially with some effects(real great psychedelic prests i have found ) but it's too flat and I don't know how it is called in English - boxy I think. What I want is nice, warm, little dark, bassy sound. And with overdrive/distortion there is the same problem. It's too flat and bright, also it lacks some power no it's not gain it is missing something but I can't describe it :( When soloing I have to add quite lot echos etc, to add some depth. but pure overdrive sound bad with solos. Also pal mutes are... well I don't know... not clear and too soft. Maybe it's my bad technique but I have never found a position with my had that would give me sound I want. And with headphones it sounds better. Of course there are a lot of good sounds which I love that's way i think I want to stay with Mustang amps. For example there is preset - i don't it's exact name - led zeppelin early tones i think - it sounds so goddamn amazing!
So now is my question. Is Mustang III v2 better in those things I've just describe? Is it good choice for me? One more catch. My amp will be used at home only... at least for a looooong time. So it is very important. Will I be able to use it with low volume just like Mustang I without quality drop?

I started out with a MIIv2 for home practice and a MIIIv2 for gigs/rehearsal.
My thinking was that I had the home amp standing next to my PC anyway and a) didn't need the editing functions on the amp because I had FUSE and b) didn't need the volume at home.

I ended up trading the MII for another MIII after like two weeks. The MIII does sound better to my ears in direct comparison. A lot of the boxyness the MI and MII with their enclosed speakers have is gone.

And yes, it sounds just as good at low volumes. And in terms of usability just clicking and turning the wheel right on the amp is so much easier than starting up FUSE just to edit one small parameter.

I have a Mustang 1 v1. I've found that using different speaker cabinet emulation settings, in the advanced amp menu, can eliminate a lot of the boxy sound. Play around with that first. I've never played a Mustang 3, but the bigger speaker in a bigger cabinet has to sound better. And the higher power output would certainly make a difference, too. I also have a Super Champ X2, which sounds amazing. But I still had to set the proper speaker cabinet emulation to get the best sound from it.

I bought an M II first - the jump to M III is a BIG difference.
Not a problem playing it quiet but it's so better when a bit louder!
I think I know what you mean by the gain sounds - I often roll off treble or prefer neck pickup on those.

There is a world of difference between the sound from the MI & MII as compared to the MIII or MIV!

The MIII sounds great at low volumes! Sounds great loud! Has headphone just and line outs! Another huge difference between the MIII (and above) when compared to the MI & MII is that the interface is significantly better. With the MI & MII you basically have to mostly play tethered to a computer... not a big deal for some, but I hated it. For small rooms, soundwise, the MI & MII are both decent, but the MIII is noticeably much better. Best!

To me, the MIII is the perfect choice in between the larger amp models and the home practice Mustang amps. It kind of does both. Yeah, once I turned down the volume on a lot of my presets, it became great for home use at low volumes. And of course 100 SS watts will get you through pretty much any gig (including outdoors).

The MIII sounds great and is a terrific size and weight. As my Amps don't get relocated often, I more regularly use the MIV for its warmer, fuller 2x12 sound.

Gig with mine all the time (MIII), great light weight package that sounds great. All the FX I need - chorus and delay.

Just watched a video of the band playing live (outside) a couple of weekends back. I was so impressed and happy with my sound, not often you get chance to step back and 'hear' yourself. I was not even playing my best guitar!

I have a valve amp and a bunch of pedals, yep of course sounds better. But I paid 4 times as much as I did for the Stang and the sound is not anywhere close to being 4x better. Had I had the Stang before the valve amp I can promise you I would not have bother spending my money on the valve.

I have to say something more. I will stay with my mustang I a little longer ;) This is probably something obvious but I'm still shocked how huge impact on my amp have different guitar with different pickups. I've just bought Epiphone Thunderhorse Explorer with great Gibson's pickups. And now my Mustang sound incredible, like something else. Now I really love this amp and I recommend to everyone this great Epi guitar! Someday I will buy Mustang III but for now I have everything I wanted and even more :)

Congratulations on the Epi! They sure do sound nice! Just wait until you hear it through an MIII!
