Actually it was used but it's new to me.

Paid $200 for an MIII V.2 with a 4 button floor switch. It looks almost new.

Got it home late last night and the straight to work this morning so I haven't even played it yet.

Hey, great deal, let us know how you make out. if you're not familiar with these (they are pretty easy to sort out) most of us "stangers" are quick to pitch in with answers to questions.

Played on it a little last night. Tried to duplicate some settings I have on my little MI. The 12" celestion adds strength to the upper registers. The overall tone and feel is better but the improvement was most noticeable on the high notes.

So far so good.

Cheers,

I was surprised to see a prompt to update the firmware automatically the first time I connected the amp to fuse. All I had to do was power off and power on while holding the data wheel down, wait for the update to complete, then cycle the power again. I did not have to select a file to download or anything. Cool.

The latest Firmware is Version 2.2 (April 2014).

Check this by pressing the UTIL button 10x.

About a month or so ago, someone posted that FUSE updated their used Mustang but only (as I recall) to Firmware Version 2.1.

Fender TSL then posted a reply with steps to manually download Vers 2.2 Firmware and force FUSE to install this.

Here's Fender TSL's reply:

Fender TSL wrote:
Dear Larrylenz,

Thanks for your inquiry. Occasionally a firmware update is released that is not part of the Fender® FUSE™ bundled update. That's the update you encountered. The following steps are the instructions for performing a manual install of the firmware for the latest version of 2.2.

Please check and make sure you are at the current release. If you are not at 2.2

Download the latest firmware below for your appropriate Mustang™ product. On most new Mac and Windows PC’s it will be downloaded to the download’s folder. You must be aware of where the file is downloaded so that you can access it when updating the firmware manually in Fender® FUSE™.
Once the file is downloaded if you are on a Windows machine you need to “unzip” or extract the file.
To extract files or folders from a compressed folder
1. Locate the compressed folder that you want to extract files or folders from.
2. To extract a single file or folder, double-click the compressed folder to open it. Then, drag the file or folder from the compressed folder to a new location.
Once you have the files extracted and you know the exact location of the files you can connect your Mustang amp to your computer and power up the amplifier in update mode.
To update your amp:
1. Power off the amp.
2. Connect the amp to your computer and open Fender® FUSE™
3. While holding the data wheel power the amplifier back on.
4. The “Update Firmware Window” will appear on the screen.
5. When the update window in fuse comes up click “Select Downloaded Update”.
6. Find the location of the (.upd) file and open it.
7. The Updating Firmware screen will come up during the update process.
8. Once complete the “Firmware Update Complete” window will come up.
9. Turn the amplifier off and then back on.
Check the firmware by pressing the UTL button until you get to the “About this Amp” screen which shows you the current version of the firmware.

Links are below for their appropriate Amp. Please let us know if we can assist you further.
