With the Mustang Amps out now for several years, it would be interesting to know how many Mustang Forum followers have seen them used by known or notable artists (at concerts, shows, festivals, etc.) Those of us who own Mustangs can spot them in an instant out in the wild....

Sorry to say this, but I guess no response answers your question MusicLaw.

I regularly play the east coast "oldies" circuit..... sorry to say, never any other than mine. I have had people (who work with known artists) plug into my amp and every single time they were surprised and intrigued.

When I was able to get out to the house one time I was amazed at how great the amp sounded. Absolutely no way anyone would have known it wasn't vintage once you mic it through a high-end sound system and mix it in with the band.

I thought maybe I saw an opener at a show using a Mustang IV but I think my eyes were deceiving me. It was probably a Hot Rod. Most touring guitarist at this point get a tube even if it's just a Princeton and just mic it, that's if they want clean or slight dirty. If it's heavier them seem to just go with Marshalls

I'm not sure any notable artist would have need for something like a Mustang amp. The value of the Mustang, or any amp modeling technology is in it's ability to adapt to multiple/various styles of music quickly and easily. For the most part most notable artists have already established a sound that defines them and it doesn't change as it does for those of us that play covers or a wider range of music styles.

I should mention, the amp I do see the most of is the Hot Rod Deluxe. Seems to be the players choice for pretty much any venue. I definitely see more Fender amps than anything else by a landslide.

I used my M-IV at the last gig I did with my cover band.

One of the guys in the audience was a long time player, he asked me during one of our breaks how I was getting the sounds I was getting out of a an HRDeville, "I don't see a pedal board, how you doing that?"

Told him it was not an HRDeville, it was Mustang IV. He was quite surprised. "I heard those were MIC pieces of junk!"

"well, you got bad info man.."

for what they cost, and what they do, it's really hard to hate em..
