I currently have Amplitube for iPad and the desktop version. When I run it through my Mustang amp on a clean preset I get a really bad low distorted sound. I am not getting the same amp/effects sounds through the amp like I get with my BOSE headphones. I guess the built in amp effects are interfering with the Amplitube effects/amps.

With BIAS FX you have the option to shut off the power amp on any of the amps. So with this option will I get the right sounds with this app running through my Mustang III amp? Or are these modeling apps not compatible with a modeling amp?

nflfbjunkie,

The Mustang amp isn't really a normal amp. It is a total solid state amp with amp simulators and effects, and as such, probably will not work with amplitube or bias. I have Jamup and Bias and they do not work with the Mustang III v.2 amp. Because the Mustang amp is really just a digital amp, it functions differently than, say a Peavey or a Fender solid state amp that has no effects. I use Jamup and Bias with my tube amp and it works fine.

Hope this help......

Can't you just run it into the Mustang's FX return (and set the FX loop position to "looper")? That should effectively disable the DSP effects and go straight to the power amp section.

Aside from what has already been posted in this thread, you may want to try using the "Basic Studio Preamp" Preset to see if that may be closer to what you want. If I recollect correctly, it is located in default Memory Slot 83.

[Note: All Seventeen (17) Amp Models and their deault parameter settings are hard coded into the Amp selections! Thus, you may freely overwrite any of the Presets in Memory Slots 83 through 99 as you desire. Each of the modeled Amps (with their default settings) remain directly available via the Amp Button > Data Wheel!]

So why is the Fender Amplitube software offered as one of the additional free softwares to run with the Mustang?

I suspect it is because it demonstrates that a Mustang can be a simple A/D converter between your guitar and your computer. IMO it really is of little use beyond a bit of playing around.

You can use it with Ableton, also bundled with the Mustangs, for recording, but I have had better results simply using the Mustang Models when recording with Ableton.
