i wanna start by saying this is my first fender amp and so far i love it!!...the only trouble im having is connecting my hd500x to it with the 4cm.....ive also tried running just the 1/4 outs from the hd to the returns on the amp and im still having the same issue of there is just way too much low end on it, it does it with my strat, ibanez and 2 les pauls and by running strait to the power section with just the 1/4 outs to the returns on the amp all controls should be void but when i tried the big dial on the amp controls it was still changing my tone i noticed when i dialed up a clean tone on the amp it fixed all the low end issues...i was running the same exact setup thru a rocktron replitone 212 and i didnt have any of these issues im wondering if theres something that im missing...any help would be great

Please try to give more detail as to what you are trying to do. And use a fullstop then and when, ffs.

im trying to hook up my pod hd500x using the 4cm or to just run it strait to the power section of my new mustang IV v2 2x12. i had it hooked up to my old amp a rocktron replitone 212 and i want the same setup i had with that. when i try to use the 4 cable method it with the effects loop off on the pod its not seeming to bypass the mustangs pre amp section because i can hear that its going through both pre amps...the one form the pod and the one from the amp its really bad if the amp is on a patch with distortion but it i dial up a clean patch on the amp it sounds normal like it is supposed to. i even tried to just use the power section of the amp by just hooking the 1/4 outputs of the pod to the fx returns on the amp and it does the same thing....it has a real bassy sound almost muddy but again when i dial a clean patch on the amp it goes away. but just using the outputs on the pod to the fx returns on the amp should void the mustang preamp all together if im right so the only control that affects any sound is the master volume. but either way i hook it up the big dial knob on the amp works to because i can hear it affect the sound if i turn it to scroll thru diffrent presets...i want to just use the amps power amp section and use the pod for my amp models and effects....hope that clears everything up so you guys know what im trying to do

kind of similar to this thread:
viewtopic.php?f=27&t=98948

I'm not trying to be an $@! but I wonder why didn't you just buy a Tech 21 Power Station which is designed just for this purpose, or one of the line 6 amplifiers that are designed to work with your POD HD.

Personally after using the VOX and other similar LINE 6 products, the mustang to my ears and "applications needs" is better than all of those other things.. But -- that's just me.

yea i guess its similar to that im just trying to use the pod for all the amp modeling and just the mustang for the power amp...i currently have 3 cables 1. guitar to hd500x input and cables 2 and 3 from hd500x left/right out going into the mustang left/right fx loop returns...that should be it but it doesnt seem to be working out that way i can still hear a big tonal change if im on a distortion preset on the mustang which it should be bypassing if im right at least thats the way it worked on my old amp

yea,, it seems that fx loop on the mustangs isn't quite what you expect from normal tube amps persay.

...i want to just use the amps power amp section and use the pod for my amp models and effects..
So, after pondering this,, it sounds like what might would work best for you would be to dial up a Basic Twin preset, and get it as clean as possible.

(keep the amp Gain set on 0, the channel volume on 10), go in to PAGE 2 of the amp settings,, set SAG all the way LEFT, (0),, bias in the middle. Keep the Cab Sym for 65twin.

stomp/mod/delay effects, all off, reverb at 0, use the Mustang Master Volume to control your level.

you still have at the very least total control over your EQ (Bass, Mid, Treble)

That gives you the purest amp sound possible so you can now use the POD HD as you want/need.

This would be essentially like running your POD HD into a regular guitar amp.

and then you COULD, set one preset onthe POD HD to some sort of Bypass mode (is there some sort of setting or like a tube preamp preset for the POD)?

That would enable you to switch from the POD presets where you are using the mustang in more or less passive/slave mode, to the Stang presets with your pod in a passive mode.

Then perhaps you get the best options out of both devices?

at the end of the day, I think this is a case of Trial And Error.. experimenting is the only way forward.

good luck!

From what you depict you may be hearing the different Cab Simulations (and Master Volume settings) of each of the Presets you are switching between. These are not set identically for each Preset! They are easy to change and resave.

The Util Menu Memory Lock must be set to "Off" in order to save any custom settings to a Preset!

The Cab Simulation setting for each preset is accessible via the Amp Button. Press the Amp Button 2x to access the Page 2 menu.

Also see Fender's Mustang FX Loop document PDF at: http://support.fender.com/manuals/guitar_amplifiers/Mustang_V.2_EffectsLoop.pdf

Notice that the "Normal" positon applies Cab Simulation to the signal path! Try using the "Looper" setting. Altrrnatively, find the Cab Simulation parameter setting that you like and resave that to the Preset(s) you intend to be using. Also make sure to adjust the Main Volume setting and save this too!

I also prefer SAG set to Minimum (fully counter-clockwise) and BIAS set to Maximum (fully clockwise) for most of the Amp types.

Hope this helps....

There is an undeniable learning curve to the Mustang Amps! Particularly, to get the best out of them. There are plenty of users here on the boards to help you through the ascent.

BTW, whereabout are you outside of LA?

There's a learning curve to typing in English as well.
C'mon - some full stops and paragraphs and Capitals to Start a Sentence are helpful.
