[NOTE: THIS ORIGINAL POST HAS BEEN EDITED!]

Hello Fender TSL, Moderators, or others who may know....

I have an MIII and MIV; both v2. Each included its respective footswitch: 2btn w/ the MIII; 4btn w/ the MIV.

I know either amp's software Util menu directly supports using these two fsw units (as a 6btn configuration), plus the EXP-1 may also be connected.

I am considering adding (upgrading) the MIII with a 4btn fsw. This could also serve as backup, should the MIV fsw fail.

The question is: what would occur if two Mustang 4btn footswitch units were connected?

How would the Amp see this?

Would doing so render the entire fsw array useless?

Would a second 4btn fsw be useless?

Would the first 4btn fsw work as normal w/ another 4btn fsw in the 2btn jack?

Would any of this affect the EXP-1 when also connected?

As I presume you guys have in lab access to the gear and schematics, it would be great to know your comments.

I am pretty sure it wont work.

AFAIK the only "chain-able" foot controller is the expression pedal.

Which works with the 2 or 4 button, or with the 2 + 4 button.

you simply have to use the dedicated jacks for these.

PS: I have a III and a IV as well with both 2 and 4 button switches.

It won't work. I'm not sure how the exact behaviour makes a difference.

You can't daisy chain them because daisy chaining means in series which would require one have 2 jacks. So i assume what you mean is using two 4 button switches into the two footswitch jacks. that can't be done because one of the two jacks is for the 4 button and the other is for the 2 button. Neither will work in the other's jack. So short answer is no, i cannot be done.
By the way, only the EXP pedal has 2 jacks and thats how it works w/o having it's own jack in the back of the amp. it goes like this...4 button jack on back of amp>EXP right side jack, EXP left side jack>4 button jack.

I had forgotten the amps have separate dedicated 1/4" jacks on the rear for each fsw variant. Thanks for the reminder!

So the questions now are:

What occurs if a 4btn fsw is plugged into the 2btn fsw jack?
What occurs if a 2btn fsw is plugged into the 4btn fsw jack?

Couldn't test this (my MIVv2 is in our rehearsal barn), but

The 2-button switch does nothing at all.

Neither will work when in the wrong jack.
