Very simply, i just want to know does it have a switch like a wa pedal so if you press down hard when it's at the top of it's throw it will turn the volume function off ? I will only be using it for volume by the way.

Yep, it has a switch that activates the expression pedal function.

I had a follow up question here: since the pedal needs to be fully down to switch modes, does that imply that whenever you exit volume mode to enter expression mode you can only do that at "full" volume? I was at a gig when (I think) I realized that I couldn't go into expression mode at a middle volume level, so I used it just for volume and never left that mode.

Whatever you set as the Pedal's Min and Max Volume points when you configure the Pedal's Volume settings (not physical calibration positions) will be what the Volume goes to when you fully press the Pedal to switch to Expression Mode. This may be less than 100% of what the Master Volume knob is set for.

Nonetheless, you can also set whether the Pedal acquires (Captures) the Preset Memory settings (including Volume) when it goes to Expression mode. This is the Expression Mode Type parameter. Otherwise "Live" leaves the Volume as the Pedal increases it as the button is pressed at full position.

Expression Parameter Restore is similar when switching to Volume mode, but this only restores the Expression Parameter configured for the Exp Mode.

Pedal Initial Source allows you to choose whether you want the Pedal to go to the Preset's setting for Vol or Exp as you select a Preset, or if you want the Pedal to remain whatever mode it may already be in (Vol or Exp) as you change from Preset to Preset.

The manual's description of Expression Mode Type (Capture/Live) says that this setting affects how the assigned expression parameter will be set when you first select a preset, either the preset's stored setting or the pedal's live setting. I didn't think this had anything to do with the Volume value when you switch to expression mode. Am I misunderstanding? And also, I thought this parameter value only applied to the first time you selected a preset. Assume for simplicity here that I'm going to stay in one preset for an entire gig (which is what I would normally do).

You may be correct! I'm not now sitting with the Pedal amp trying these out. Simply referring to the PDF. I'd have to try the these out to see how they play in use. I often use different Presets when I need to slice through or boost an FX etc. I haven't ru into to a Volume Mode over run issue switching from mode to mode. Then again there are lots of configs I haven't tried.

It seems there should be a choice for what the Volume level defaults to when you switch over to Expression - at the very least to choose between heel or toe position when you switch over. That way you can have it go back to heel (which for me is around 70% volume). Or you can have it stay at toe position - which would be the choice for those who like to control Expression parameters while they solo, like wah, and I think is the only option right now.
