Hi!

I have the mustang floor and I'd like to know if it transmits the midi clock sent by other midi unit via midi thru.

The question is because I have one set-live for gigs with Ableton Live that via midi sends program changes to the Mustang floor in real time during the gig, and now I want to buy the Adrenalinn III beat-sync effects unit and sync it with Ableton through the Mustang floor, although I don`t know if the midi clock from Ableton could go through the Mustang floor to the Adrenalinn III (Ableton Live>Mustang Floor>Adrenalinn III)

Fender support told me that the M floor "is only capable of continuous control messages"; also that this scheme should works, but I would like to know if there is somebody who has proved something similar. It works?

Thank you!

Iskandar

I can't answer your question (although note the Mustang Floor's documentation says that its MIDI-out socket can function as a MIDI-thru socket with the exception of SysEx messages; you need to turn on the MIDI-thru capability in the UTIL menu), but as no-one else has either, some other suggestions:

- Does the Adrenalinn-III have a MIDI-thru socket? If so, perhaps you could connect Ableton (ie your PC) first to the Adrenalinn's MIDI-in, and then connect the Adrenalinn's MIDI-thru to your Mustang Floor's MIDI-in.

- If neither device (the Adrenalinn nor the M-Floor) fully support the MIDI-thru signals you need, you could instead use a MIDI-splitter. This has one MIDI-in port (to connect to your PC / Ableton), and multiple MIDI-out ports which you can connect to your M-Floor, Adrenalinn (and anything else you acquire in future).

- Do you have (or can you borrow) any other MIDI equipment you could connect to your Mustang Floor (with the M-Floor connected to your PC / Ableton)? You could then see if that equipment receives the MIDI messages (thus confirming the M-Floor is correctly passing them on). A dedicated hardware MIDI tester would be ideal, but any equipment that you can configure to respond to the MIDI signals you're interested in, would show whether the signals are there.

- Use a MIDI input port back into your PC (I'd be surprised if your PC's MIDI interface doesn't already have this, in addition to its MIDI-out port!), and run some MIDI test software. That should be a free, quick and easy way to get a definitive answer to your question.

Hi Scott!

Thank you very much! Your post is really useful. The adrenalinn 3 doesn't have midi thru socket. I think the "midi-splitter" could be a great solution. However, I'm going to test the transmission with a synthesizer that has a sequencer and arpeggiator and I will write here the results (also I will bear in mind the test with the "MIDI input port back")

Thanks again!

Hi!

I have tested and YES, mustang transmits midi clock with its midi-thru. I did the test with Ableton live sending midi clock to the mustang (midi in), and from mustang (midi out/thru) to the synth, and the midi clock message from Ableto goes through the mustang to the synth without problems :D

Thanks again!
