Hi everybody,

I am from Austria (Europe) and a Newby here, so please apologize my bad english.

Since yesterday I´m an owner of a Fender Mustang Floor, it sounds pretty well, but what I am desperately looking for is a Harmonizer, which can add me an additional tone (intervall of a third), like it is useful respectively necessary at the end of the guitar-solo of "Hotel California".

Know what I mean?

Does the Floor have such an effect and if yes, how to use it?
If not, is it downloadable somewhere?

Thx a lot!

Best regards from Vienna...

You can't download specific additional effects for the Mustang range. However, you should check that your M-Floor has the latest firmware. Search the Fender Support website for "Mustang Firmware" for instructions and links to the downloads. For the M-Floor it's currently version 1.4 - you can see what version you have on the startup-screen, or by connecting your unit to FUSE on your PC (see fuse.fender.com if you don't have the FUSE application yet).

Yes, the M-Floor has an effect that may be useful for you. Look for the Pitch Shifter in the MOD section. If you search this forum for "Pitch Shifter" there are previous topics where people have discussed how best to use it.

Thank you! :D

I have updated the firmware yet, it is 1.4

and I installes the Fuse-Software, also.

But the number of results a research for "Pitch shifter" brings is nearly vast, I think I will have to spend a lot of time for searching for a simple instruction how to use the Pitch Shifter to add a note in 3rd interval... :( :|

It isn't difficult. In fact (purely a personal opinion) it's intuitive and really easy - which I say to encourage you just to play with the amp and its controls, it's amazing how quickly it all becomes clear when you just try it. Here's how to get started:

Select the Pitch Shifter MOD effect. Pluck a guitar string - you can hear two tones. Adjust the 'Pitch' parameter (if you're still new to the amp and don't yet know basic stuff such as how to adjust effect parameters in general, read the amp manual then come back here).

As you adjust 'Pitch' you'll hear the original tone unchanging, and the second tone going up and down in pitch. You'll pretty quickly discover that a parameter value of 5.5 makes the two notes the same pitch. A lower value gives you an added tone lower than the original; a higher value gives a higher tone.

Turn off the MOD effect for a moment. Pluck a string (eg G). Now pluck the additional tone you want (in this case a third up, B). That's just to help your ear focus on the additional tone; if you have perfect pitch you can skip this part!

Now turn on the MOD effect again, and still with the B sound in mind, pluck open G and adjust the 'Pitch' parameter until you hear the second tone reach B. On my amp this is at a parameter value of 6.2. 6.5 gives a fourth and 6.8 gives a fifth (don't get too hung-up on the numbers, I cite them to give you a headstart, set the parameter by what sounds right to you rather than to a specific number).

Also as you adjust the parameter, you can hear the second note jump in semitone steps. So rather than listening you can just count the desired number of semitones up or down from the base note (at 5.5). You'll quickly find you can go up two full octaves (when the parameter value is 10.0) in twenty-four semitone steps.

Easy-peasy.

As for the other parameters of this effect:
LEVEL sets the volume of the second note relative to the first note
DTUNE is for fine pitch adjustment (less than a semitone)
FDBK sends the second note itself back into the pitch shifter - so you get a third note, fourth note, etc, all jumping by the same interval from each other
PRDLY is the delay before the second note sounds

Just play with the settings and observe what they do, they're all pretty intuitive and obvious when you listen to what they're doing, particularly if you change their value from one extreme to the other while plucking notes. That's exactly how I work out what all the amp parameters do, there's no magic formula.

Hope the above explanation helps. Have fun with your amp.
