Mustang III v1 and expression pedal.
I set it up for the wah effect shown in the post and have enjoyed that.
Can it be set up so if I go to far with the pedal it doesn't hit the switch and change to volume? Don't want to loose the wah accidentally, not used to using a pedal.

Also, while I,ve played around with controlling other effect, I'm not getting anything that seems us full. Does anyone have settings I can copy like the wah setting post I mentioned above? But for different effects.

If I can copy some settings that others find us full I think I will get a better understanding of its capabilities and uses.

Was going to send it back at first but I can see that while it's flexibility makes it a chore to set up, it also is a powerful feature.

Not sure of a stratagy for setting up and naming new profiles that are tied to a specific pedal setup. May go with listing a preset to a specific song our basement band does?

Playing mostly hard rock oldies.

Thanks for any guidance.

Steve

It should require a bit of force, beyond the pedal's natural stop-point, to actuate the switch. If your switch is being hit too soon, you could try 'chasing' the switch's mounting nuts up the thread a bit (to pull the switch a bit lower in the housing). One nut is visible on the thread outside the case; obviously you'll have to open-up the switch to get at the other nut inside.

Taking this further, you could re-position the switch so low that it's never actuated, regardless of how hard you push on the toe. But this then renders the 'volume' mode of the switch unusable. Or worse, if your switch somehow gets into 'volume' mode, it's going to be hard for you to get it back to 'expression' mode.

So another thing I've heard people doing is removing the switch entirely, and mounting it separately alongside the pedal - so that the 'toe' position of the pedal never actuates it, but it's available to be pressed on its own.

Perhaps a better overall solution is to check the switch is positioned correctly (so that it only actuates with definite pressure on the pedal toe), then practise more delicate movements on the pedal with your foot so that you don't accidentally hit the switch.

What effect, and what parameter of that effect, do you want to control? What sort of sound are you trying to create? It's hard to make suggestions without knowing what you want to achieve.

What I've done in the past is just pick an effect I want to experiment with, assign one of its parameters to the pedal, and play the guitar while moving the pedal. Then I learn what range of sounds that gives me, and whether that's useful to me. If it sounds rubbish, I move on to something else. If it sounds promising, I play around with the settings some more (eg do I want 0%-100% on the pedal, or maybe 30%-70% or 50%-100%, or maybe I want the pedal to go 'backwards' 100%-0%, and so on) until it sounds right to me.

I think that's the best way to do it - just experiment until you find sounds that you like. Start at a coarse level, then fine-tune and tweak when you find something that sounds good to you.

As a starting point, if you want a specific suggestion, here's something simple to try. Set the pedal to control the 'level' of the tremolo. You can now vary the tremolo intensity, from nothing to very deep, with the pedal. Try playing a song that uses a tremolo guitar, and while playing you can use your foot to experiment 'live' with different amounts of tremolo, and whether different amounts work better at different points in the song.

If you find the song works best with (say) two different tremolo levels at different points in the song, you can then configure the pedal/preset so that the 'heel' position is one of those levels, and the 'toe' position the other level. Now, when playing the song, you can easily switch between the two settings by moving the pedal quickly from heel to toe and back again. So in this case, you aren't using the gradual change over the pedal's range, you're just using the pedal first to establish what end-points you want, and then to switch between them.

(Before anyone says 'but just using heel and toe settings as a two-position switch isn't the point of a pedal' - I agree, there's lots more you can do with this pedal, this is just a simple example to get things moving)

Funk #49, The Real Me, Basket Case, Sweet Emotion, What I like about you, give me novacaine are some of the songs I'm working on.
got the songs down but trying to get the right tone for each...

I'll keep playing with the settings... modeling amp and effects are all new to me so any suggestions on getting the "sound" right is apppriciated.

Tried to adjust switch. Feels to easy. Strange switch, only a nut on top. No adjustment. Had to use a washer under switch to lower it. Not enough as it didn't make any difference. Seems to easy but no experience with using any pedal.

Will work with it for awhile
