Hey all. I just grabbed a demo floor unit via Ebay, cant find a new unit anywhere in Canada since they were discontinued, but that is another story....

I powered it on, and it appears to work OK sound wise and when connected to my laptop with Fuse. But....main board itself has only partial button/controls working. For example I can select and deselect amp/stomp/mod etc and the flywheel and option buttons work, as does the expression pedal. But I can only bank up and down, not move within the presets within the actual bank, the loop switch or the manual/preset switch don’t do anything either.

I updated the firmware no problem via fuse. But I can't get it to factory restore, ehich I was hoping would resolve the anomalies. When I hold EDIT and turn it on, the save button goes red for like a second and it boots up to the Liquid Solo preset.

Before I send it back as defective, which I would hate to do as I have waited forever to get this unit.....can anyone help me?

As a side note when I boot it up holding down the peal button, it lights up al along the top and appears ot be some sort of diagnostic? What is that about?

not sure how familiar you are with the floor... so don't be offended if this seems obvious...
The loop button wont do anything unless you have something plugged into the fx-loop.

The data wheel does scroll through presets until you select a parameter to edit.

It also presses to navigate from one parameter to another.

Of course it is also very possible it's just broken :o

The mode button is how I navigate...
In preset mode it will select patches (or presets) in whichever bank you are in.

In stomp mode it will turn effects in the banks on or off.

Good Luck

I appreciate any help or input :)

That explains why the loop button doesn't do anything. But the mode switch doesn't do anything, and the individual presets 1-4 don't respond either in preset mode.

But there has to be something wrong if I cant actually do the factory restore right? I mean hold EDIT and turn on is simple enough :)

Ha ha! Yeah, sounds broken...
I do know that my floor unit has a buggy issue.
I have not tried a factory reset... but the pedal calibration procedures do not work for me.

Hopefully somebody from Fender can chime in, I would hate to have to return it, as I stated befvore I cant find one anywhere in Canada. I may even consider payingto have it fixed if possible...but I need to have an idea before I go back through ebay/paypal for my money back.

Just wanted to update things a bit in the hope someone from Fender can chime in.....

I can factory restore, and everything is working except the mode switch, and the bank up and preset switches. Not sure if this is something that can be fixed, if yes I would like to know how to go about getting it fixed. I don't want to have to return the item via ebay as I know I wont be able to find a replacement.

Any advice, should i just call Fender support?

Nope it is a secret.....lol

Long story short, I took it apart and had a look around inside anbd there was a ribbon cable detached. Connected it and voila! There is a main board, and 2 smaller board that control a specific set of switches, the one board being unplugged resulted in the set of dead switches. Which was great cause the replacement boards are on a 3 month back order....and I wasnt sure I wanted to wait that long.

Sounds great through headphones and into my acoustic amp. Not so pleased with it front of my EVH or via the effects return. Just loses something. But may consider getting an active PA wedge and see if it can cut it in a live scenario. A lot easier than lugging my 5150 and pedal board around to say the least.

ShredRex - I have exactly the same problem wont reset factory, some buttons don't work.

which screws do I under to access the plug socket that has come off?

Do I undo all the screws on the bottom plate as well to access the inner circuit boards?

I am concerned that these screws are holding inner boards to the base plate. Yes or no? Help please someone
