Hi,
just received my Mustang III V.2 a day ago. After a quick test I noticed, that when I turn the master knob at 0 there is still some sound coming through the amp. Is this normal behavior? After my understanding with the master at zero no sound at all should comming through.

Is there a way to calibrate the knobs?

Thanks

No, there isn't. And the controls don't actually have a zero, they start at 1 ;)

Thanks for your answer - I know they start with 1, I meant when the knob is all the way down - my fault ;-)

So is it normal that the sound comes through with the master knob all the way down?

My Mustang III is v1, but when I turn the MASTER down, it's silent.

Both my IIIv2s are silent with the master all the way down, too.

My MIV V2 is silent when the master is "turned all the way down". Same with my Mustang Mini.

Thanks for all the comments. I'll play around with the amp on the weekend when I got some time. I just had time for a quick test when I got it. Hopefully it will work like it should. According to the sticker on the package it left factory in November 2014, so it is brand new.

I have the M3 v2. I think it's silent to about 2 & 1/2 but my family says it is not....

Just kidding. Hope it all works out for you.

Yeah I hope it sounds good if played quite, because the main reason I bought it, it was to play (mostly) at home and don't like to get problems with my neighbours ;-).

I'll see - can't wait to the weekend

Yes it sounds good quiet within reason. Below 1 maybe Not so much, but at a reasonable level sound good. The 12 inch speaker needs to move a bit. But this happens a a relatively low volume. It also depends on what kind of patch you are using. I have noticed some sound better at low volumes. I wish I could tell you what makes this happen to help, but you'll figure it out.

Remember you have the headphone jack too.

Let her rip once and a while too!!

I'm sure I will be happy with it after tweaking it - the factory presets seems not to be the best. I have tried the headphones briefly and it sounded ok. I have a pretty good headphone (sennheister HD 280 SILVER) that I use all the time with my multieffect pedal and it sounds great. The headphone output of the mustang seems to be much lower volume then the one on my effect pedal. Also there's quite a bit difference between the amp output and the headphone output. Probably it has to do with the headphones impedance (mine has 64ohms).
It would be a good idea for future versions of the mustang to have an option to tweak that.

That's true. I have to turn mine to like 5 in order to get enough volume out of the headphones.
Not a problem in itself, I just have to remember to turn it down again before unplugging them ;)

Hi Dshow,
in my experience (M3 v.1 , in the past; M3 v.2 , currently),
you can hear a very low sound (in a quiet room) from the speaker even with the Master Volume at 1 if a preset is generating a very high gain and its preset level (Volume parameter) is not set at low values. You are generating a large amount of signal in the preamp so, i guess, probably the master control is doing a great job but it is not able to silence or block fully that excess of signal so a small part of it reaches the power amp stage. If you lower the Volume in the preset(s) the output sound should become weaker or no sound should be heard from the speaker.

sorry, I have to negate what I said above. As Dimitri states, a little sound is sneaking through with high gain presets on my amp.

Hi Dimitri,
thanks for your reply. That's what I heard - it's very quite, but it confused me because I was guessing no sound coming through with the master all down.
