Hi All,
Recently I recorded a new song in my basement studio (I am a solo musician, I play all the parts you hear in my recording then mix together to create a completed song) using my Mustang III amp. This is the first time I recorded with it and I couldn't be happier. It was very easy to do so, I ran directly out of the headphone jack then into my sound card. Likely I could have gotten a cleaner signal going through the USB or using the XLR jack, but this seemed to work just fine so I ran with it.

Anyway, the song is called Downtrodden. You can listen to our download the .mp3 free from here. I hope you like it, feel free to chime in with your opinions on the amp tone or overall enjoyment / dislike of the song. Guitars used are my Signature Odyssey for the main portions and my Epiphone Les Paul for the right channel to thicken it up a bit.

Cheers,
Adam

To be honest, the tone ..the clarity and musicianship were excellent! Great work and great accomplishment 8)

Which amp model did you use and what effects did you use as well? I'm sure you used reverb as well so I will ask, did you use the 63 or 65 reverb?

Always great to hear music recorded by a fellow Mustang III player! I'm impressed with the sound quality you got from the headphone jack / sound card arrangement.

Let me encourage you to try the USB interface - the Mustang's stereo effects sound stunning via USB. I have made recordings by plugging the effects out jack into a TASCAM recorder, but never used the headphone jack, although I used to do that kind of thing with some of my earlier amps when I first started messing around with recording. I've also recorded the Mustang III by putting a mic on the cab. I think the over-driven tones sound better when you include the Celestion speaker, but I've recorded plenty of over-driven tones via USB, too. It is just a bit brighter, but you can EQ that out.

Nicely done. A great song and well produced.

I'm with you on the Headphone out. I got some latency issues when going into both Protools and Garageband via USB. Not terrible but enough to be distracting when trying to overdub something. Way less fiddling with the headphone out and I highly doubt anyone would be able to tell the difference
