Hi all.

After some tweaking I'm loving the tones from my Mustang 3 V2. However, I do experience a high level of background noise, even on clean amp presets. It's like single coil hum but I get it on humbuckers too. Less noticeable when I'm touching strings, bridge etc.

I have a Mustang Floor with the same issue, but in comparison, my old Line 6 Floor Pod Plus is quiet as a mouse (shame it sounds like crap!).

I'm living in Lanzarote, so the mains supply can be a little temperamental, but as I say the issue really only occurs on these two units. Other amps, PA etc are all fine.

Any ideas on what I can do to solve it? The only thing I've found so far is to make my presets using the SS112 cab setting. It's a little darker than all the others and seems to deemphasis the high frequency noise a bit, but it doesn't eliminate it.

Cheers!

1- noise with guitar plugged or not ?

2- Test with no guitar

Check house electricity ; ground .

Cell phone , PC , neon light , halogen light , electrical motor could do some noise on amp

Thanks.

Noise is there with and without guitar. Same noise when I take the app to another venue, but no noise from other products using the same power socket.

What about cell phone, PC light ....?

Other product do not mean socket is good , just product is less sensitive than your amp

I get the noise even when everything else is unplugged and switched off, so it's not "outside interference".

Think you might be right that my fender gear is just more sensitive to the power supply. Wonder if some kind of power conditioner would help?

You say that the noise reduces when you touch the strings. That normally means mains hum for sure. Have you tried a different mains cord. You man have a poor earth connection in the cord.

All of the above questions/suggestions are on point for trying to find the source of the noise and eliminate it. If you can't eliminate it on your own, don't sweat it...just use the Noise Gate feature that is built into your M3V2! Push the Amp button twice to access the advanced Amp settings and turn on/up the Noise Gate until the noise goes away. Note that this setting is saved as part of the preset so you will want to do this on any preset that presents unwanted noise. I would recommend keeping the Noise Gate as low as you can to eliminate the noise...in other words start at Off and then turn the Noise Gate up one notch at a time until the noise has gone away.
Rock on!

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I do use the noise gate on some patches but find it strangles sustain. I'll try some different power cable and see if that helps.
