I own a pair of M40x headphones and when i plugged them in the sound only comes in through the left side. My headphones work fine on everything else, but i did notice that the connector wiggles around a little in the port. I also plugged in a standard pair of apple earbuds and those worked fine. Does anyone else have this problem?

The Mustangs' headphone jacks are of REALLY poor quality (shame on Fender on this). Be as gentle as you can with yours...sounds like yours is starting to go. They can be replaced (there is a topic on this forum about it) but it is NOT easy (assuming you do it yourself). And given the current market price for a used Mustang amp you would likely be better off buying a used one (or maybe even a new one) with a good jack than paying someone to fix yours.

And Fender...for Mustang v3 you should go with better jacks (USB, 1/4" and Input) AND not solder the jacks directly to the board so they can be easily replaced (in other words some sort of wiring or connector between the board and jacks).

Rock on!

The only thing is that my apple earbuds work fine with it, but it is a shame that the jack isn't up to par considering the price of the amp. I'll just have to stick with those for now. Thanks for the reply though

I have some Marshall headphones with the same problem. I thought Fender was just upset that I was using Marshall equipment. :) These headphones work fine in my Android. I assume it is the headphone jack on the amp. I have only had it a week and this is the first time I have tried it. If I push down with some force, both sides seem to work. Likely a file on the jack to get the plastic down a little, will work. I am tempted. I may see if I can find a headphone extension cable to see if that will work. I have too much money into the headphones to use cheap ear buds. Other than that, I am impressed with the amp. It puts out better sound than my original 1990ish Crate. hahaha That being said, nothing is broken in the Crate after all these years. As for the mini USB jack....those break on EVERYTHING. The new standard is the micro USB. It would be great to just have the big USB device type connector.

I discovered this problem on the day i got the amp so i was a little worried to apply force to any of the jacks, but i saw your post and decided to give it a shot and it worked! I guess the simplest solution in this case was also the right one. Thanks! :D

That is good to hear, and I know what you mean!

I have an adapter that splits the 1/8" into two 1/8" female jacks that allows my headphones to work without force. After using this a couple of times, my headphones now work without it. ALSO, I noticed when playing with the master volume, it sometimes cuts out one side. So...although I have a solution that works for me, I also now know that the master volume potentiometer is poor and can cause the same issue.
