I can record my guitar to my PC using my Mustang iii and Audacity Software.... What do I need to buy (software or hardware) to be able to record my Guitar/Mustang lll and a backing track on my PC ??? I've been looking online and am getting very confused.. Thanks for any suggestions...... Naturally I would like to take the inexpensive route but am willing to pay a little for quality recordings although I don't need a top of the line setup as I'm just a hobbyist............ Thanks again.

Audacity pretty much sucks because it doesn't support ASIO (unless you build it yourself). I recommend Reaper. Or Ableton Live, which your Mustang should include a license for.

You need to import the backing track into your recording tool so you can play it back and record your guitar at the same time. The recording project will then contain both backing track and guitar and you can export it as a single MP3 or whatever.

Chris, thank you much for your reply....... I do have Ableton and am working on figuring it out. When you make reference to "recording tool", is there a piece of hardware I need to get?? I've been looking at them online too........ Thank you much

No, in that case Ableton would be your recording tool (DAW). You don't need to purchase extra hardware.
