Has anyone used a Tremonti wah through the front end of a mustang 3 ? How does it sound ? I want to buy one but I am concerned about the fact that it has a 20db boost. It it safe to boost the front end of the mustang, or would it be the same as using an overdrive pedal ?

I am on the fence trying to decide whether to buy the exp-1 or a wah pedal.
I know the exp-1 can also be used as a volume and control about any other parameter but I am only asking about the Wah function.

Dear dimojoe,

Thanks for your inquiry. The Fender® MUSTANG™ Amp can handle a stand alone pedal on the front end and as far as boost is concerned it can also handle an overdrive or distortion pedal.
As i'm sure you know you will probably want to blend in your stomp settings to not sound to overly distorted with the Wah's 20db boost, if you were to try the Tremonti WAH I would suggest you select a fairly clean preset and then add in additional EFX's to dial the desired tone you want without an over abundance of "GAIN" engaged. I hope this helps and please let us know if we can assist you further.

Regards,

I have a Dunlop Wah which also has a volume boost - its fine with the Mustang. Actually I find the volume boost on the wah very useful it saves me having to fiddle with the guitar volume or play tap dance with other pedals.

I also have the exp-1. This is a decent pedal, however I am not overally keen on the in built wah plus using the inbuilt wah means that the slot is not available for OD etc etc. I use the exp-1 to give me control of the master volume only.

Hence my set up

Guitar --> Wah --> Amp
4 Button Switch --> exp1 --AMP
2 Button Switch --> AMP

Hope that helps.
