I just recently bought a Mustang III V2 and I'm very pleased with it. One thing I noticed was the amp runs very cool to the touch, and I didn't see any heat sinks in the back. Which makes me wonder is the power amp section of these amp a digital power amp? I know they are very cool running.

There's no such thing as a digital power amp.

Digital is numbers and making them larger does not increase volume. You have to have transistors or valves (tubes) to amplify.
But that said I'm surprised there aren't heat sinks on the power transistors.

When I say "digital power amp" I am referring to the Class D amplifiers. These amplifiers are not ordinary linear amps. They convert the signal to a digital format and then produce a train of pulses at the output. The pulses are filtered which then creates the output to the speaker. A lot of companies use this type amp now and I have seen Fender refer to them in their "Rumble" series. So I was asking if this type amp is used in the Mustang amps.

From Wikipedia:

The term "class D" is sometimes misunderstood as meaning a "digital" amplifier. While some class-D amps may indeed be controlled by digital circuits or include digital signal processing devices, the power stage deals with voltage and current as a function of non-quantized time.
