I just got a EXP-1 pedal for my Mustang 3.
The pedal works, but it only gives me 2 values when I rock the footpedal. It only gives me the minimum and maximum value, nothing in between. So the volume jumps from nothing to everything, and in wah-mode it's allways heel down sound or toe down sound, also nothing in between. The value instantly jumps from one to the other.

Is it really broken or am I doing something wrong?

Have you calibrated your EXP-1? (and done it correctly, as per advice in this forum - the Fender documentation on this can be misleading)

What values have you set for heel and toe position in FUSE?

Can you link me to this calibration document? Because that's the first I hear off it.

My settings are just standard, heel 0 and toe 10...

The instructions that come with the EXP-1 say "download the Fender FUSE owner’s manual and turn to the EXP-1 section for step-by-step instructions on how to calibrate ... your EXP-1 expression pedal"

You can download the Fender FUSE manual here:
http://support.fender.com/manuals/softw ... ssportMini)_rev-G_English.pdf

The EXP-1 section of the FUSE manual (page 12) has the calibration instructions. The part of this that isn't as precise as it should be is step 4: "Move the EXP-1 pedal between the desired heel and toe endpoints to set the range of pedal movement that is registered (recognized) by the amplifier."

To clarify this: you must first move the pedal, in one smooth movement, to the desired heel position. Then move the pedal, in one smooth movement, to the desired toe position. It seems to be important to do it exactly like this; for example, don't move the pedal back and forth multiple times, don't move the pedal to the toe position first, etc.

Something else you may want to read is this support article, which describes configuring the EXP-1 as a wah effect, which I think is exactly what you want to do:
http://intl.fender.com/en-GB/support/ar ... p-1-pedal/
(apologies for the en_GB link; since Fender "upgraded" their website a couple of weeks ago, all the international/generic links no longer seem to work - at least for me outside USA; I don't know if this link will work if you're NOT in UK, but hopefully you'll be able to search the Fender support area for the equivalent page for your location)

And this page also describes the calibration procedure, unfortunately with the same ambiguity/imprecision as the FUSE manual:
http://intl.fender.com/en-GB/support/ar ... ion-pedal/

This is a continuation of my previous reply. I'm having to post it separately because the forum only allows three links per post.

Finally, this support article talks about configuring the EXP-1 directly on a (V2) Mustang amp, rather than using FUSE: (ditto above comments about en-GB links)

Thanks for all those informative links!
And with succes, my exp-1 is now fully functional! Sweet
All it took was a calibration like you suggested.

Since it didn't came with a manual, I assumed it would be plug-and-play.
But even this simple thing has more to it than meets the eye.
Anyway, thanks man!

Hmmm, if you bought it new it should have had a "Quick Start Guide" in the box - that's the document I refer to above that tells you about the calibration and refers you to the FUSE manual.

Glad you've got it sorted and all is working fine.
