Can someone tell me why the Fender Mustang III V2 is 30 bucks cheaper than the V1 ?
As far as I can tell they both come with the same features.
I just ordered the V2 in the limited red tolex
thanks Fritz :)

I don't know about the red version but as far as I know retail price of v1 was 299 vs 329 for v2. So for the regular black version v2 is 30 bucks more.

V2's have a couple more amp models than V1's. The Mustang V2's are worth every penny.

What I mean is I see the black Mustang 3 and it's listed at 359.00 as opposed to the one I ordere that was 329.00 I was confused by this and thinking mind didn't come with the same options. I'm hoping that the 2 button foot switch and the recording software still ships with it.
Thank you all for your replies. I haven't had a fender amp since the early eighties when I used a 65 twin reverb. Regret selling that baby :(

Hi Fritz44,
I bought the same amp & like you, it was cheaper then the black version also.
I think perhaps the red version is discontinued & they just want to sell them off.
It is the exact amp & all the features are the same!
takecare,

AWESOME ! Thanks Beatles. What kind of threw me was the place I ordered it from has the same three amps with different pricing, title and features listed lol. One amp was listed as Fender Mustang III (black) for 359 while the other two were listed as Mustang III V2 ( one red the other black) listed for 329.00 each with different features and no mention of a 2 button footswitch. Regardless... I can't wait to plug my Axes into it
Thanks again for the reply :)

For complete accuracy: my understanding is that ALL models of the Mustang 3 come with the 2-button footswitch. The V1, the V2, all special editions, different colour finishes, etc.

If a shop sells you a Mustang 3 without a 2-button footswitch, they are not selling you a new, complete product - and should advertise and price it accordingly.

The Mustang 3 V1 was superseded by the V2 amps nearly two years ago; if shops are still selling the V1 amps, it's just old stock they haven't cleared yet.

Don't assume any logic in the way shops price-up apparently similar items. I recently bought a piece of music equipment from a shop where both I and the salesperson were bemused to find that the new-stock, boxed items were cheaper than the old-model, ex-display item. Individual items will be re-priced based on competitors' pricing, offers from the manufacturer, other deals/incentives to encourage people to buy, etc. When an individual item is so re-priced, shops don't automatically look at all the other similar products and adjust their prices to match.

If that means you can get a good deal, as seems to be so in this case ,then great, snap it up while it's there! Just be certain to check (as you're doing) that you're really getting what you think you're buying - ie that it's a brand-new, boxed item complete with all accessories. Or if it isn't, that you're happy with what you are getting and the price you're paying for it.

You don't get sotware anymore.
When you register with fuse you can get the info on downloading the software & serial numbers for Ableton Lite Fender Edition & Amplitube Fender se.

You still get all the software. For the last two years it's all been download-only, Fender no longer put a disc in the box. That's a good thing, it means you always get the latest version.

See this Fender support article for details of what you need to do:
http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... tible-amp/

You'll probably also want to read the following:
http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... -computer/
http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... io-driver/

Search the Fender Support website for the keyword "Mustang" for lots more relevant information. And read all the manuals/articles linked from the FUSE website too.
