FRFR is full range flat response. Like a PA for example which typically has separate bass, mid and tweeter or horn speakers to handle sound at all frequencies. Guitar amps are not intended to produce full range sound and don't have bass or tweeter speakers...instead their speakers and cabinets focus on producing sound in the mid range frequencies...which is what the cab sims theoretically do...they focus or limit the sound to the mid ranges so that it sounds like it was coming out of or being produced by a guitar amp. More info here...

That is why I believe that cab sims are redundant (and negatively impact the sound) when using the Mustang simply as a combo amp (using the mustang III's own 12" speaker and cabinet to produce the sound) and not going direct to PA or some other FRFR device via the XLR or 1/4 line out. But that is my opinion and not everyone agrees as you can see in this thread.

I mix up the cabs, I like the bassman amp, but use the 2x12c for the cab. Now on 60's sparkle I turn cab off. It all comes down to your taste and what type of pups you are using i think. I use seymours and TV Jones Classics, they sound good on one preset and crap on the other, AHHH Modeling gets crazy!
