Hey guys,

I have my mustang plugged into my ipad through the camera adapter, but its onlypicking up the guitar now and then...which is kinda annoying.

Anyone else here experience this?

Dear Trevicus,

Thanks for your inquiry. Fender® Mustang™ Amps are not iOS supported devices.I hope this helps and please let us know if we can assist you further.

Thanks,

Hey, thanks for the response, I understand that the Mustang IV isn't an iOS device, but Ive seen lots of people having great success plugging straight into their ipads and I wondered what I was doiung wrong! :)

I am not familiar with the ports on an ipad. When you say "camera adapter" do you mean a USB port? If so, what driver are you using on the ipad? A standard ASIO driver (if this is available for iOS?) should be able to receive the (digital) audio the Mustang sends over USB.

Your other option is to connect the analogue audio output from your Mustang (eg headphones out, XLR out, fx-send) to a line-in or mic-in analogue audio port, if the ipad has such a thing. Then all issues of drivers, iOS, etc are irrelevant and this should just work, as long as Garageband allows you to select the analogue audio port as input.

Of course, if you've seen other people connect Mustangs to ipads successfully, perhaps the best solution is to ask them how they make it work, then do the same.

Interesting video. But it doesn't give any details about drivers, etc, on the iPad necessary to make it work. The person in the video used Cubasis (I think?) app, and implies it all "just works." I note in one of the comments that someone else using Garageband couldn't get it to work, and there's no other info there on how it could be made to work with Garageband.

As per Fender's reply above, they don't officially support drivers for iOS. Could it be that the driver installed with Cubasis just happens to be compatible enough with the Mustang to work, whereas the driver with Garageband is different and thus doesn't work? (a guess, I don't know on iOS if the drivers come with the apps or if you install them separately?)
