Hi,

I have a Fender Floor Mustang that works great until two days ago. This Sunday 7 of the 9 buttons switches stop responding. I try resetting to factory restore, I flashes the firmware but nothings works. The switches that dont responds or work are de 5 preset changing buttons, the mode button and the bank/preset down button. Please if someone can tell me if this issues happens to your or if you have a way to resolve my problem I will be xtremly happy to know.

Thanks and Regards to all.

This doesn't sound like a firmware problem, so I don't think factory reset etc will help - as you've discovered.

Did all seven buttons stop working at exactly the same time? What had you been doing with the unit just prior to that? Had the unit been kept anywhere damp, or had liquid been spilled on it?

I don't know how the footswitches are connected internally, but it could be something as simple as a connector inside coming apart and needing to be plugged back together. It would be unlikely for all seven switches to completely fail at the same time; plus if the other switches and the LCD display, and most importantly the sound from the unit, are all still working, then obviously there isn't a major fault with your Mustang Floor.

Of course, to open the unit and check the internal footswitch connections will void your warranty. So the best advice is probably to take it to a Fender dealer / service centre for them to have a look.

If you didn't... try doing a plug out test...
as in, unplug everything except the power connection...
an also try plugging into a different power source.
Just to eliminate all the external variables.

Hi

Did you find the reason for the fault? I have had exactly the same problem today with the same buttons failing!

I recall reading recently in another topic in this forum, a user with a similar problem. They opened-up their Mustang Floor and found that a connecting plug (that connects the wires from the buttons to the main PCB) wasn't attached properly. They re-fitted this and all was well.

Sorry, don't have a link to that topic, I mention in case you want to search for it.

Obviously you should only open your Mustang Floor case if you're competent to deal with the electronics inside and understand that it will void your warranty. Also, even though the M-Floor doesn't use mains voltage, for safety still make sure it's disconnected from the power supply before opening.

Thanks all. Had a look inside and one of the ribbon cables had slipped out a tiny bit. So small an adjustment that I wasn't sure I had moved anything! But put it all back together and it's fine again.

Only issue now is that I have to reprogram it as I did a factory reset!

excellent! Did you ever make a backup? You should be able to restore it to the device after factory reset to restore your presets.
