Somewhat new to the Mustang presets. I'm returning to playing after many years. Played during the 60's in many rock groups. In my "old age" become very enamored with the what many would call mundane, "smooth jazz". Looking for a preset for style and tones of Larry Carlton, Chuck Loeb etc. Any suggestions. Thanks.

I can't point to a specific one, but the Fender site has 175 presets tagged as Jazz. I'm sure you'll find something in there you like.

Hi stu770,

I thought I would chime in and offer a link to several Presets that may be of interest. I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if I can assist further.

Best Regards,

Alan

Also take look at the Basic Twin or Basic Reverb Deluxe presets.

(Sic Clean may work too)

For my jazz tones I pretty much rely on the Princeton preset. That's long been a favored amp in Jazz circles and I get a pretty convincing tone with it particularly when I use my 335.

Clean... Clean Tone... Twin nails it. Princeton definitely gets it...
Princeton will also get a nice gritty tone if you want that... like Tiny Grimes got w/ Parker type tone... a little bit of breakup when you dig in...
Mess around a bit... you'll dial something in

Agreed, Princeton, neck pickup, and you're there (I also have a 335 (well, a Dot), so maybe it's a 335 thing)

Gretsch 5120 w/flatwound 11s,neck pick-up and the Deluxe or Princeton settings (roll off the guitars tone a tad) gets the job done.
