That god forsaken data wheel !!! Fender, i love this amp, don't get me wrong. LOVE LOVE LOVE it. But for god's sake, put a data wheel in the thing that doesn't change when a slight breeze hits it ! Must be hundreds of times in the short few months i've had it where it gets nudged while trying to push it and i have to move to another patch and back ad start again, losing any setting i'd been testing. Just last nite i was playing thru my main/favorite resets, a bassman one i tweaked to perfection. It sounded like cr@p. The reason? Because of that data wheel ! I apparently was pressing it to move to a setting towards the right and when i was on the cab setting and pressed it to move more to the right it apparently changed the cab to the 57 tweed which is one i don't like at all and never use. So i played other patches most of the nite never imagining the cab was the wrong one.

In short, that thing is like putting retread tires on a porche. It's foolish. I'd literally pay $50 more for the amp with a data wheel that doesn't move till you purposely turn it. It's the only flaw in the whole amp which is an impressive feat, but it IS a very very irritating one. Please change this. When the next generation of mustang comes out i want to get one, but i really don't want that horrible wheel on it. I'm not the only one either. Seens it mentioned several times and i have no doubt the vast majority of those who are bothered by it haven't spoken up.

I can't say I've ever had a problem with the data wheel moving when I didn't want it to. But then I also can't say I understand what exactly happened to you from your post. At first it sounded like you were modifying one of your presets, but then it sounds like you went on playing it like you were playing it at a gig. But that doesn't make sense to me since I can't understand why you would be modifying a preset in the middle of a gig. At gigs I only select presets, I don't modify them. And I select presets using the footswitch, not the data wheel. Modifying presets using the data wheel is all done beforehand so I'm really confused about what happened to you.

I think I have a similar thing happen, but more to do with the push buttons.
So I press 'stomp' to edit stomp gain, and press the data wheel to select the virtual knob, but as I press it, the data wheel turns slightly, so it switches to a different stomp (or 'empty').
When I turn back to get the stomp I had, the settings are of course back at default.

This happens a lot for me - only solution is I should put the amp further away, so I can't reach the controls so easily.

(It still gets me how fast you have to twist the data wheel to get a big change - I'm forever giving it a rapid twist with an action like making a coin spin on a table)

I think I understand what your talking about. While pressing the wheele you inadvertently turn the nob while pressing...

I have done this and I chalked this up to user error for my part.

Can you use Fuse? Then you don't need to touch the wheel at all.

Are you suggesting they make the wheel not turn so easily or are you suggesting some other "fix"?

I have been thinking there should a kind of buffer/temporary storage or save and "go back" feature. As I dive deeper to exploring the amp I'll find something that I like then all of a sudden I loose it because I changed something and can't get back to the way it was. dUH!

Yes it's frustrating , but I have take the attitude that it's part of the learning process.

Good luck and sorry to hear this is bothering you. Yup I love my amp too.

Like i said, they may well vary in how easy they turn. Mine turns so easy it's almost as tho the click detents do nothing. Put it this way.....every time i try and push the knob to move to the next setting i have to concentrate on pushing it down without accidentally turning it. It's especially frustrating if you made a series of changes and you're liking the result then you lose it and can't remember exactly what you did.

I know what you're saying, but I don't have it happen often enough for me to think that it's the hardware, if I'm trying to rush something, then ya,, probably more my fault then the amps data wheel.

I have both the M-III and an M-IV (both v1)

that's how I establish most of the main presets I use, and I only have about 4 or 5 presets that I actually use. I like that interface, but not all that practical for on the fly changes during a gig or rehearsal session.
