I have a Mustang III v2 with the two button footswitch.

Recently, the Up/B button activates both buttons. So when I use it in Stomp/Mod mode, the Down/A button will toggle Stomp, while Up/B toggles both Stop and Mod. I also notice that when using it as QA1/QA2 mode, when pressing the B button, it will switch to QA1 for half a second before switching to QA2. Unplugging the footswitch, switching modes, and even a factory reset did not fix it this time.

The strange thing is that this has happened a couple times before and it has gone away.

Anyone have a similar problem and know how to fix this?

The 2-button footswitch is a variation on a simple open/close switch. Each of the two switches closes the circuit with a different resistance. The amp uses this to recognise which button has been pressed. See: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=85821&p=967706#p967706

It sounds like the resistance of your 'B' button is going wrong and confusing the amp (specifically, it's showing too low a resistance to the amp - ie a short circuit somewhere). Most likely, there's a loose connection either inside the switch, or in the plugs/cables.

Can you try a different cable between the amp and footswitch? (any mono-jack to mono-jack cable will work) Also, keep the cable well away from any other cables, to avoid any interference.

Or it could be that the push-button on the switch itself is faulty; you could try spraying contact cleaner into it, or at worst replacing it entirely - but the hassle of doing that may mean it's easier just to get a new MS-2.

Or it could be that the A button is the culprit - if it has a faulty connection, it could be that when you press the B button, the A switch is momentarily closing, causing the amp to think you've briefly pressed that one before the B button.
