Hi Folks,
I have been the very happy owner of a new Mustang II v2 for about 2 months now. Having been out of the guitar/playing loop for nearly 2 decades, I have to say I am impressed with where digital modeling amps are at. It really has some nice out of the box presets, as well as some nice sounds you can come up with when messing around in Fuse.

I wanted to start making some of my own custom presets and had 1 question I can't seem to find an answer too.

When creating one, when is it best to put the effect ie: wah, reverb, delay, phaser, etc...in front of the amp ( over on the left in pedal animation ) and when is it best to have the effect after the amp ( on the right in what resembles a "rack" animation )

In other words are some effects best to always go before and some always after ( or does it really matter that much at all )? If so could someone with some more experience give some much desired guidance?

TIA
LazyLightning

If you search the internet for "guitar effects order" you'll find many, many articles, diagrams, etc, explaining this. That's probably your best resource, rather than me or anyone else just re-typing the same info again here (although it has been covered in depth in previous topics, you'll have to search the forum to find them).

A simple answer is that the default order that the Mustang amp uses, is usually the right order. So your stomp effect, followed by amp model, followed by mod, delay and reverb (you can change this order using FUSE). Again, for lots of info on the reasons why, read a few articles on the 'net - the first page of google results for the above search has several very good ones.

With the Mustang, you can only have one of each type (stomp, mod, etc) which keeps things simple. If you were using equipment that let you have multiples of each type, then it's really down to individual experimentation to see what gives the sound you want. Although there are guidelines on what usually sounds best, there are no fixed rules.

Thanks scott-uk,
I am sorry, I didn't even think to do that first ( which in "20/20" hindsight makes much more sense )

I apologize, been up all night and was not thinking correctly!

I will do as you advised, this time after some much needed sleep. Appreciate the help though, thank you!!

Hi,
I thought the default order is amp model, followed by stomp effect, followed by mod, delay and reverb? That's how the buttons appear on my amp. Mlll v.1

The default order is as per my post. You can see this in FUSE or directly on the amp (from the 'main' preset display, press the big 'encoder' button twice). The default order isn't the same as the order of the buttons on the amp.
