First post. Hi everybody. I'm a very happy new owner of a III v.1. Just wondering what everyone thinks regarding v.3? If there will be a v.3, when do you think it will be released? I may get the itch to upgrade to a Mustang IV some day.

That's the $50,000 question.
I think those amps are pretty popular, and some people are still going to buy "real tube" amps for quite a while, so I don't think it erodes that market too much. intheblues (YouTube) should get a big check from Fender for the free advertizing he did on that amp.

So I'm guessing there will be a v3 sometime, and I'm guessing it will be a significant update (maybe a new line name?) because products like the Zoom G5 have some many more effects, and products like the AmpliFi from Line6 have so much better connectivity, that Fender needs significant changes to keep up with the competition.

I almost didn't buy my Mustang IIIv2 a few weeks ago, because I will be pretty mad if Fender comes out with a v3 at Winter NAMM.
And that's exactly why Fender won't tell, they don't want us to hold off waiting to buy something, especially because they hope if we buy now, we will upgrade later.

I'm mostly hoping that they will continue to support the v2 line once they release the v3, for example by providing an Android version of Fuse, instead of putting all their effort into new v3 stuff. That's where they'll lose me as a customer if they do.
The main reason I decided to go ahead with the Mustang IIIv2 now (upgrading from a Mustang Iv2) is because I can always use it as a "bare amp" with a competitor's product (for example Zoom comes up with to upgrade the G5), if I decide that's where I want to spend my money next.

Hi
I used to own mustang III v2
And it was and still is a great amp, I now own a Super Champ x2 and that is also a very good amp.
I just got hold of a zoom g5 and connect it to the clean channel of my x2 and what a great multi effects it is. Very tube like and the best multi effects unit Iv owned and I have had a few.

Thanks to both of you. I’m in no hurry to upgrade as I've only had my Mustang III for about a month or so. It’s a great amp! Much better than the Peavey Vypyr VIP-2 that I replaced. But still, I may be tempted if a new version comes out, considering my Mustang is a version 1.
