We regularly see people asking for the "best" lead presets.
Do people have favorites for rhythm guitar? Of course it'll depend on the type of music.

I'm especially interested in what people are using for blues and blues rock rhythm

For rock, i use the Brit Colour (Orange) amp. For anything else, the Tweeds do it for me! :D

Right now I mostly use the Brit 80's for my rock tones and to saturate it for heavier tones I will use the green box od, it works just like the real deal!

I love blues and blues/rock. And I love the sound of a Strat with just about any of the Fender models, but I gravitate to the Deluxe, the Bassman, or the Super Sonic.

For me the trick to a good rhythm tone is to first dial in a nice clean tone, then add gain till you get just the right amount of grit. I use a combination of gain and my guitar volume knob to adjust on the fly. Also try different pickup selections for different sounds. On my Strat I like the middle, middle-neck, or neck positions for rhythm. And when its time to go from rhythm to lead there's no need to completely change your set up, just crank up the gain and/or kick on an OD.

I would say generally that in these categories I have about 4 presets I use regularly. For a very clean blues with a slight jazzy feel I downloaded the Mark Knopfler preset that was designed by "intheblues" typically with my strat which is based on the Twin. For a slightly warmer tone I use the Deluxe with just enough gain to provide some slight breakup with either the strat or the Les Paul. For a crunchy sound I downloaded the Eric Clapton preset designed by "intheblues" which again I believe is based on the Deluxe but I added a compressor, not to add gain but to even out the strums and add clearer articulation by increasing the attack. For the heavier saturated sounds I use the British Watts (HiWatt) primarily with my Les Paul.

My rhythm presets are as follows:

Clean: "Clean Twin reverb" '65 Twin w/compressor and '63 spring reverb. Vintage tremolo defaults to off, so I can add it at the press of a button. The compressor is there to replace some of the jangle with chime. I'm really not into strummy jangly stuff. ** I also use this as a lead preset, by stepping on my '78 Distortion pedal. Then the comp adds sustain.

Overdrive: "My Bassman" '59 Bassman w/ large room reverb. The reverb is set fairly low, just to add some extra something, so it doesn't sound too dry. ( It's quite possible that the reverb settings for these first two are reversed- it's been a while since I set them up or fooled with them...) This is set right over the edge. Lower output pickups give me a nice light crunch. Buckers and p 90's push it over the top.

Crunch: This is new. '90s Metal. gain rolled back, mids pushed. Both this, and the Bassman preset use the 2x12C cab. Gives me a nice Rock crunch. I wanted to tame the noise a bit, and make it less squealy/howly as well as less of a buzz saw distortion sound. Fender has the gain and volume cranked right up, and the mids scooped in the "Basic" preset. My first foray into this amp model! I called this one "Crunchy Mesa"

I've been on a bit of a "Brand G" kick lately, so I've mostly been using P90s or PAF style humbuckers ( Epi LP, Epi Wildkat, Gibbo SG w/P90's, Firebird w/minis). The first two presets were set up using my CV Tele, however.

I used my Wildkat for the 90's metal preset. (hence the need for noise control- P90's + semi hollow body...)

For more dirt, I simply step on the afore mentioned distortion pedal, or my OCD.
