Hello guys thanks for viewing, i'm somewhat noob into the guitar world but this problem has been extremely frustrating. I purchased my first distortion pedal while back its a proco rat2, which worked beautifully and sounded great. However, one time when I went to play the pedal would not work and instead of the effects whenever you hit the switch it would just cut the power to the amp and the guitar would go acoustic and if you hit pedal again it would turn on amp sound again. I contacted proco thinking it was a faulty pedal and actually sent it out for repair since they thought it was defective but it wasn't the pedal they said it worked fine. Not sure if its something small im missing but i would really like to get this pedal working again makes playing much more enjoyable. Current setup which worked before guitar into input then another cord from amp input to output of pedal.

Does this pedal have a lot of level boost to it? I ask, because the M series of amps doesn't like to be kicked in the teeth with level boost. It triggers a limiter of some sort to protect the digital preamp, ends up doing some wonky things sometimes.

You can use pedals like yours, just make sure you keep the Level (or whatever name the manuf calls it) at, or just slightly above unity. Use the gain/dirt etc control to dial in the dirty. You can use a pedal to add "flavor", but not to push the amp itself- that trick won't work on a digital or solid state preamp, like the Mustangs have.

If you want to do that, use the stompbox fx on the amp, or in fuse.

I have a III, not a II- but it's the same preamp modelling. I use both a distortion and an overdrive pedal with mine, with good results. I did try- once- to crank my OCD pedal up in front of it. It got QUIETER, and a LOT more compressed, but no extra dirt. I turned it right down, and haven't repeated it.

on the pro-co rat start by putting the Volume knob to almost minimum (this is the output signal level from the pedal) and start increasing until it sounds like poop

Almost sounds to me like the volume on the pedal is low so when its engaged you’re in essence, cutting the signal.

I have a Rat 2 as well. Works great with this amp.

Sounds like a possible power issue. Maybe something like you are using a power supply that happens to be bad so when you kick it on theres no power to the circuit so it's dead. Then when they tried it they used a battery so it worked fine. Or maybe visa versa....your battery is dead and they used a power supply when they tried it. Or maybe you are using a stereo cable to the output jack which isn't allowing the switching jack to ground the power supply when it's inserted. In any case, It sounds to me like the power isn't going to the circuit. Is it one of the rats with a LED and if it is does that light?

Also, if u r using it with a battery, try playing it with the battery compartment open and wiggle the battery wires around and see if it goes on and off intermittently. You may have a bad battery clip or wire which is intermittent and worked when they tried it but not when you did. Intermittent issues are a biotch.
