I own 2 Mustang 3s a V1 and a V2. I have tried transferring some of my favorite settings from the V1 to the V2 just by copying parameters and manually adjusting them using Fuse in the V2 and they are not even close in sound as the amps have changed. I have never actually uploaded or downloaded presets yet but I'm wondering if it's possible to take a V1 preset and upload it and then download it into the V2 and if Fuse will adjust whatever has changed in V2 to make it sound the same as the V1 preset or if I'm better off to do it by ear?

All of the V1 presets should sound the same when they are moved to the V2. Its possible to miss some nuance in the V1 preset if you are just going from parameter to parameter on the V1 and manually copying them into the V2.

You might try going into Fuse with the V1 connected. Do a Backup. Then connect the V2 and do a Restore. The V2 should be an exact clone of the V1. If you make a patch on the V2 using some of the V2 only features, you cannot do the same thing, i.e., Backup the V2 and then Restore to the V1. The V1 will simply ignore the V2 features in the patch.

Lynn is completely correct: a V1 preset should sound (almost) identical on the same-model V2 amp. (But if you move a V1 preset from (eg) a Mustang 4 to a V2 Mustang 1, you would expect more of a difference as the cabinet/speaker are different.)

Although the V2 amps introduce some new models and effects, the existing models and effects are almost the same on both V1 and V2 amps. I say 'almost' as I believe the V2 amps have slightly different hardware, and I understand Fender did slightly tweak some of the modelling parameters to refine the accuracy (as in, closer to the amps being modelled) of the sound. But all that should be a very marginal difference, and probably not even noticeable to most people.

I agree with Lynn that your best approach is to copy the presets via FUSE, rather than trying to make all the changes by hand. That way you are guaranteed to get all the right settings. All I can add is that as well as doing a whole-amp backup and restore, you can also copy individual presets between amps, if you only want to change a few of them. Simply connect FUSE to your V1 amp, select the preset you want to copy, and 'save' it to your PC (into FUSE's Media Library). Then connect FUSE to your V2 amp, select the saved preset from FUSE's Media Library, and save it back to the V2 amp.

Should sound the same but don't, believe me even though I'm doing it manually I'm not missing any nuances. I will try the save a V1 preset to fuse and download to V2 thing. However there are changes in the V2, the Marshall and Super Sonic specifically sound way different to my ears amp to amp.
