I am wondering what people think.

Equipment
-------------------
Amp: Mustang I
Interface: Lexicon Alpha
Monitors: JBL 5" (pair)

I like running the sounds together. (backingtracks from PC out Alpha to Monitors) while I play with this chain. Guitar > Mustang > Alpha > Monitors

I did try Amplitube, and various other modeling software and I keep going back to Fender fuse. I just like it much better.

The big question is, it seems like I am always running it thru the monitors so would the Fender Mustang Floor model be a good idea for me instead of going out headphone jax on Mustang I?

Guitar > Mustang Floor > Alpha > Monitors - while getting audio from PC via USB on Alpha and mixed together to monitor

Well, Let me think..

So will you NEVER be in the situation where it's just you, your guitar, a cable, and the amp? (not using the PC/Backing Tracks/PC Monitors?)

Probably not never....but 99%. I don't plan on getting rid of my Mustang I, was more curious, would I get better sound if I got a Floor model and didn't use headphone jack?

The modelling and effects in the Mustang Floor are (almost) identical to the Mustang amps. So in theory the sound will be identical.

I say "almost" because the Mustang V2 amps (you don't say whether your Mustang 1 is a V1 or a V2) have additional amp models and effects, and possibly slightly different hardware, compared to the Mustang Floor and V1 amps.

I say "in theory" because a couple of things can affect this.

First, your Mustang 1 amp processes the sound slightly differently for its headphone output, compared to the sound it sends to its built-in power amp and speakers. You don't have a choice which variant you take - you have to use the headphone output. The Mustang Floor does the same thing, but you do have the choice whether to take the sound from the headphone output or the 'normal' output - or even the XLR line-out.

Second, and related, you can tweak that 'normal' output on the Mustang Floor depending on where you're sending the sound - it has different settings depending whether you're connecting it to a PA, a combo amp, etc.

So, you'll have a few more options for getting different sounds with a Mustang Floor compared to your Mustang 1, but it will be entirely your opinion whether any of those different sounds are better (to your ears) for your purposes. It's also entirely possible that you could tweak your Mustang 1 settings to obtain exactly the same range of sounds (through its headphone output) as the Mustang Floor will produce.

My opinion, fwiw: I don't think you'll obtain anything noticeably 'better' in terms of sound from the Mustang Floor, compared to what you're doing with the Mustang 1. Where you might benefit from the Mustang Floor is the foot controls - switches for changing effects/presets, and the expression pedal. Whether or not you want all that would to my mind be a more compelling reason to buy (or not to buy).

Exactly what I was looking for Thanks! Was not sure because of the different outputs. I was not sure if the headphone jack in the Mustang I was a "lesser" quality output.

hmm I like Scott's reply here. I wasn't really thinking about the extent the floor models go to for different outputs.

Sounds like the perfect option for you is one of each! :)
