I have recently been having problems with my fender mustang 1 amp. The problem isn't a USB cord or anything, it is the input for the USB cable. I have tried many different cables and the only way to get the usb to work is to put a lot of force on the cable while it's plugged in. I can't afford to buy a new Mustang, either. Any suggestions?

Some people have done diy replacements of the USB socket. If you can do basic soldering and are comfortable opening your amp, you could try this. Search the forum, I think someone posted comprehensive details about this in the past. Note this will invalidate your Fender warranty.

You could try spraying contact cleaner into the socket and see if that helps.

You could try finding a (short) USB cable that you can get to work with your socket. Leave this plugged into the amp all the time (maybe taped in place to ensure a good connection, etc). Then use the plug on the other end of this cable, to plug into the cable going to your PC. That way, you can connect the amp to the PC without touching the actual socket on the amp.
