Is the covering material of the red and black amp the same, besides the color?
Will one weather better than the other? I can't get any good picture of the red one, it looks like the pattern is not as deep but it could be because the color is so bright.

We have a MIII in red and a MIV in black in the band. From what I can tell it really doesn't matter. Both coverings aren't all that good. We move these a lot so they get all sorts of little nicks, but I guess that's where Fender saved some money and kept the price down. It doesn't really matter much to me. Those little nicks are badges of road worthiness. At least people know the amps are being used when they see them.

After getting the red one, I am little disappointed. I looks "cheaper" to me than the black one I saw in the store. Not a big deal, and at least one person I showed it to thought it looked great.
At least it will be easy to tell which amp is mine!

Are you saying you think the red covering is actually a lower-quality material than the black, or simply that (subjectively, psychologically) it appears to be lower-quality but is in fact the same? Just curious, having never seen a red one.

The quality is the same, but the seams show a little more (they show as black thin lines)
I mostly meant "psychologically" though. I expected the red to be deeper, instead it has a tinge of pink to me. Someone pointed out to me last night that it is that "famous" Fender Texas Red. Here's a picture of a Blues Junior in that same color: http://www.tfoa.eu/user_files/images/Fe ... 0Red%20Ltd %20Edit.%2002.JPG and I think that picture shows the color pretty well.

I'm getting used to the color already...
