I discovered that when accessing the tuner from the Tap button on the Mustang IV amplifier, it will change the modulation settings for the particular patch that is open. I brought this to the attention of Alan in tech support and he agreed this is an issue that needs to be corrected in a firmware update. I was hoping that it would be corrected in version 2.2 but unfortunately it was not.

The workaround for the issue is to go out of the patch and go back to it to restore the modulation settings, a relatively simple yet annoying solution as I use the amp professionally. The problem does not occur when accessing the tuner from the foot switch, however, I don't always like to schlep around the foot switch.

Would like to hear if anyone, especially Alan, has any insight into if and when this issue will be fixed in a firmware update.

Thanks for your time.

Dave P

I'd never encountered this before (I always use the footswitch for the tuner). But as you mention it, I tried it on my V1 Mustang 4. Does the same (or at least a similar) thing to what you describe, so this is a bug in both V1 and V2 amps, and new 1.x firmware is needed as well as 2.x. What's doubly-weird is that the MOD settings change a few seconds after exiting the tuner - not immediately! Even if custom settings have been saved, the MOD effect reverts to its default settings (at least in the few tests I've just done). Bizarre. Thanks for posting - if I'd just found this by chance I'd have thought I was doing something wrong.

Aspiring Musician, thanks for confirming I am not the only one having the issue. I noticed it because I created a patch with a lush chorus and then randomly, the chorusing effect would go away. This occurred about a dozen times before I figured out it was happening when I accessed the tuner from the tap button. I am surprised no one else has posted on this.

Alan was very nice when I spoke to him and although he couldn't guaranty there would be a fix at the next firmware update (2.2), he said the issue had been noted and would hopefully be addressed soon. Looking forward to a resolution!

Hi Dave P,

Thanks for your updated post. And just to confirm here, I have indeed noted this behavior, and I will make sure that the right folks here are aware of it. At such time that Fender® may release an update, we will have detailed information posted on the related Fender Forums. Please let us know if we may assist with anything else in the meantime.

Best Regards,

Alan
