I bought this new earlier this week with my new Strat. I just noticed the tag tied to the handle that a 2 button foot-switch and the USB cable are supposed to be included. Are there really supposed to be these two items with the amp?

The amp was not in a box, they just gave me the amp, the power cable and the Quick Start Guide. Was there supposed to be a manual with more detailed instructions included?

I bought this at a locally owned music store in Prescott, AZ. I would hate to think that they are taking these items for themselves.

That tag is correct. Unless you bought what was was clearly marked as an "open box" or "as is" item (having a significant discount from the suggested retail price of $329.99) you have not received all the items from the original packaging. The two-button footswitch (with cable), USB cable, power cable, quick start guide, warranty card, and owner registration card are all supposed to be included with a new Mustang III V.2 amp.

I don't think there is any excuse for these kinds of shady retail practices, but if you want to give them the benefit of the doubt, take the amp and the items you did receive back to the store, show them the tag, and say, "Where's the rest of the stuff I paid for?" If they don't come across with all-new everything, demand a full refund and tell them you will advise Fender of their shortcomings. While you're at it, you should carefully check out your "new" Strat to make sure some corners weren't cut on that precious instrument!

Personally, I wouldn't buy any electronic item this costly without getting the original packaging. What will you do if for some reason you have to ship it to a repair center?

Agree with above. If you bought a 'new' amp it should include the footswitch and cables, etc.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Went to the store first thing this AM. Sure enough they just forgot to include it. The owner asked to look at the tag, and he went to look for it and found both items. I believe him when he said he had no idea, his guys didn't put it in the correct spot where they were supposed to be.

You should have received the USB cable too.

The Quick Start Guide is the only printed manual that comes with the amp. The Advanced Manual is a download from the Fender support website. I believe the Quick Start Guide includes a download link, or search the Fender support website for "Mustang Manual" and you'll find it. Just make sure you get the correct V1 or V2 manual for your amp.
