I have a Fender Mustang amp that is a week old and, as of tonight only plays through the headphone socket. Is there a reset or is the amp faulty?

No, there is no 'reset' for this sort of thing.

One thing to check first: when you have something plugged into the headphone socket, the amp's speaker is deliberately muted. Are you sure there isn't still a plug (or anything else) in the headphones socket?

If the speaker is still silent when you remove the plug from the headphone socket, that suggests the muting switch inside the socket is stuck/broken. You could try inserting/removing a plug in the headphone socket a few times to see if that frees-up a stuck switch.

Another thing - are you sure the Master Volume isn't on zero? This only (I think) affects the speaker, not the headphones, so you'd still hear sound through the headphones when the MV is turned down. Turn it up and see if that makes a difference.

Finally, you don't say which Mustang model you have - if it's one of the models with an open-back speaker cabinet, check you haven't inadvertently disconnected the wires to the speaker, as they're exposed and could easily catch on something.

If none of that helps, as the amp is new take it back to the store and exchange it.

Hi jimmosan,

It looks like you received some excellent assistance from scott-uk here. We wanted to check in with you and see if you were able to resolve the issue you encountered with your amp? Please let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,
