But when i use the footswitch going beteween the 2 the clean channel with the saved settings is gone . The foot switch im using is Fender 1-Button FootSwitch (099-4049-000)

Park it on the preset you want on footswitch “A” and press the ‘Save’ Button so its flashing. While the save button is flashing, press the footswitch, you will see that the LED near the footswitch jack will light green or red, press the footswitch button until the light you wish it to live on is illuminated. In my case, I have the clean on green. Once that light is illuminated press save again and it will park it on that footswitch setting. Then go to the other preset and do the opposite so you would press the footswitch until the Red light is illuminated.

Hope that helps

So hopefully I understand you I will give it a shot this evening when I get home. I am a little confused when you say "Park it on the preset you want on footswitch “A” " my foot switch only has one button on it

Sorry if that last post was gibberish.

I meant park the amp on the preset you want to store on the Green footswitch setting.

Then press the save button on the amp so its flashing and press the button on the footswitch until the LED next to the Footswitch jack lights up green. Press the Save button on the amp again, this will store that preset to the green footswitch slot. Repeat the steps for the Red preset by setting amp to the preset you want on the red footswitch setting, press the save button on the amp so that it is flashing, press the button on the footswitch until the LED is illuminated Red. Press save again on the amp to store that preset to the red footswitch setting.

Hopefully that is a little more clear. Good luck.

Not sure. Always works for me. I'd try saving a different preset to the Red footswitch setting and follow the steps again to get the one you want saved there.

If the green worked I don't see any reason it shouldn't work for the red.

Edit:

Actually, one thing to note is if you hit the save button then change the preset, you will be switching the save function so that it will save whatever preset you had active to the Red or Green Preset slot. So make sure you have whatever preset you want on the Red footswitch setting active before you hit save. Does that make sense? I think I recall getting gaffled by this too.

Hi Guys,

Please see the linked Fender® Support article for programming the Fender Mustang™ I/II two button foot switch. And please let us know if we can assist further.

Best Regards,

Can you clarify what exactly you mean by "the settings are gone"?

Do you mean that it doesn't switch back to the original preset (ie it doesn't change), or that it switches to a different preset than the one you were expecting, or that it switches to the preset you were expecting, but the settings within that preset aren't the settings you were expecting?

If the last of these, are you sure you saved those settings to the preset, before (and separately to) assigning the preset to the footswitch?

ya specifically the last. When i switch back to the first supposed saved setting the modification to that setting is gone and its the default sound .So Im using the 65 Twin reverb and the American 90s. when i switch between both after saving modifciations to them the 65 twin reverb goes back to default. I went to guitar center on a new one and it did the same thing so my thought is Im doing it wrong and I had a witness at the store who was basically no help.

when i plug foot switch in light by foot switch turns red
Turn knob to preset i want red light goes out by foot switch
make adjustment to preset little chorus and delay red save button lights up
press save starts flashing quickly
Press foot switch once no noticable change
Press save button again save light goes out setting is saved

Gonna stop here because WHAT A NIGHTMARE. In doing this over and over on what i can tell is poorly written instructions what I noticed was that my light sequences were out of alignment.

I fixed and i dont want to mess with now that I have it correct but honestly im not sure how i fixed but the red light on the foot switch was showing green on the preset side and when i hit the foot switch back it would go green on the footswitch side and go back to red on the preset side.

If you have specifics i would love to see them written because this was pretty sad way of getting this set up. The new one in the store did the same thing so I think i was leaving out a save step

But to recap its choose your preset, make your mod, red save button lights up, press save makes save button blink, press foot switch once, press save button again and your done? repeat for second feature ?

thanks in advance

It sounds to me as though you're muddling two things together here:
- changing settings on a preset and saving that changed preset back to the amp
- assigning a preset to the footswitch

Treat these as two completely separate operations (indeed, your amp's advanced manual does describe them as two separate operations, so I don't think the instructions are poorly written). In particular, this isn't going to do what you want:

Quote:
make adjustment to preset little chorus and delay red save button lights up
press save starts flashing quickly
Press foot switch once no noticable change
Press save button again save light goes out setting is saved

Here's what I suggest you do. Sorry this is a bit long, but I wanted to give you detailed step-by-step instructions to help you get this right.

1. Select the first preset you want to use, eg '65 twin' in your example.
2. Make whatever changes you want to the preset
3. Follow the instructions under "to save a preset" in your amp's advanced manual, viz:
- press SAVE once
- select the preset you want to overwrite (or just overwrite the current preset)
- press SAVE again

Note at no point in the above do you touch the footswitch - this is important!

Now repeat the above steps to modify and save your second preset (your 'American 90s' one, using your example).

Now, check that your settings have been saved by using the PRESET knob on the amp to select each preset in turn - make sure it has the saved settings. Don't touch the footswitch at all yet - just change presets using the preset knob. If the presets don't have your changed settings when you switch back to them, you're doing something wrong with modifying/saving the preset - so go back and try again (and ask again here if you're having difficulty with the above).

Only once you're happy that the settings you want have been saved to the presets, should you proceed with assigning the footswitch (ok, I'm probably breaking this down into more steps than strictly necessary, but just trying to keep it in a sequence that will work for you, or at least help us identify a further problem).

To assign the footswitch, first realise that the 'red' and 'green' footswitch settings are just to distinguish the two presets assigned to the footswitch; they don't have to relate to the 'red' and 'green' banks of presets on the amp. You can assign any two presets to the footswitch. So let's assume you want your '65 twin' preset (the one you modified and saved, above) to be the 'green' footswitch preset:
1. Select (using the preset knob) your '65 twin' preset
2. Don't make any further changes to the preset!
3. Press the SAVE button once
4. Press the footswitch button so that its green led is lit (if green is already lit, press the footswitch twice to make it go red then green - don't know if this is necessary, but it alerts the amp that you're doing a footswitch assignment)
5. Press the SAVE button once

Now, select your second preset (the 'American 90s' one). Repeat steps 1 to 5 above - except at step 4, press the footswitch button to make its red LED light up. These steps are in the 'to program the footswitch' section of your advanced manual.

That should be it.
