I love the mustang ii v2 but am indifferent to the mustang floor when I use it in tandem with it. Could I use a Line 6 short board with my mustang ii v2? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thx.

Dear Joe in Mobile,

Thanks for your inquiry. I'm sorry but I am not familiar with the Line 6 you are referring too so i am unable to confirm if it will connect seamlessly with the MUSTANG™ II. With that being said can you please explain how and why you are using the Mustang II in conjunction with the Floor?
The Floor has 100 presets whereas the II only has 24 and the floor has the expression pedal.
You have much more flexibility with the Fender Floor than you do with the MUSTANG II.

Regards,

I think we can assume a 'no' on compatibility:

From the Line6 website:

Data Cable FAQs

Q: What type of cables are used with the Line 6 controllers?
A: The Line 6 controllers use a standard CAT-5/6 cable with standard RJ-45 ends. These cables are very common in data connection and can be found in most local computer outlets. The FBV controllers ship with a black 25' cable included in the box.

It would be amazing if Fender developed a similar foot controller that connected via the USB Port.

I’d buy it immediately

I know very little about USB hardware design so not sure if its even possible but one can dream.

I like the CAT5/CAT6 idea because those cables are cheap, readily available, RJ45 locks into the jack, and they can very easily be made to custom lengths. Maybe an idea for the v3 Mustang amps....?

Fender is losing customers because they don't have an advanced foot controller for the Mustang series. we have been asking for one for several years.

I agree.

I believe it can be rather easily done too, such as a foot controller I proposed with a locking USB cable in this thread:

Not a peep from the Fender moderator about forwarding the suggestion on in that thread... I suppose it wasn't worthy enough.

I've mentioned the same thing several times. I have since moved to a Line 6 M13 because of the easy foot control. Fender could do it. They just won't.

Yep. Same deal as with drag-n-drop preset sorting in FUSE. It took customer frustration to come up with alternative solutions via first HoreTamer and then refuse. Fender should find that embarrassing...

What's it going to take for this? Some bright young mind building one with an Arduino or PIC controller, a few CMOS chips and the data from the Linux PLUG project and putting it up on Kickstarter before they are embarrassed again?

What is the point in asking for customer feedback if your simply going to ignore the the features customers have asked for for years?

Someone needs to throw some ice water on that guy/gal in the R&D chair - wake up, naps over.

Dear Forum Members,

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize that your perception is what has been stated in the various threads. Contrary to popular belief we do forward feedback to the relating engineers. Unfortunately the perception that one has total control in R&D and Engineering to create, update , approve and then launch products to the public on their own is not the process. If you would like some assistance in using the floor in tandem with your Mustang II Please let us know and we will be happy to assist you.

Regards,

I came at this from the opposite direction. Prior to the Mustang I was using a Line 6 with a shortboard. I will agree it's an elegant solution to controlling the amp, much more so than what Fender has to offer. And it was one of the reasons I didn't make the move until last year when the Version 2 model of the Mustang came out. I had to reconfigure my stage setup to a much more complicated setup, but I felt it was worth it due to the Mustang's precision and clarity in it's amp emulations.

The Line 6 always felt a bit like a toy in that regard. It produced some decent tones, but they were more of a generalized, almost cartoonish version, of different amp models. On the Mustang, the Twin felt like a Twin, the Bassman like a Bassman, the Marshall like a Marshall and so on.

I would agree that Fender is hurting itself with it's current approach to controlling the Mustang. The 2-button, 4-button approach feels antiquated by comparison. They have an edge right now with their emulations which, in my opinion, is the MOST important aspect of a modeling amp. What they aren't taking into account is the usability of the Mustang for the working musician. Their approach roughly DOUBLES the time it takes me to setup and tear down the amp at gigs in comparison to the Line 6. This is a hardship they could overcome if they chose to, and it is one area where they are exposed against their competition. Their competition can eventually improve their modeling algorithms and I'm not sure I'd want to be standing still at this point and giving them the opportunity to leap-frog me in the marketplace with both quality modeling and a better controller approach.
