Hi there. I've had my Mustang III v2 about a month now. I've used it in a few band practices and played several hours through it at home. I'm using it with the 4-button and 2-button foot switches. I'm looking forward to gigging with it shortly. But something happened last night at practice that made me nervous....

I was playing on a preset that I created based on the 65 Twin. I have the reverb set between 1 and 2. For what it's worth, one of the buttons on my 2-button switch is set to turn reverb on/off. The reverb on the preset I was playing is off by default, and was off when I was playing it. I was in the middle of the solo and I wasn't touching the amp or the foot switch. All of the sudden, my lead sounds very, very spacey... I look at the LCD and the reverb had somehow come on--and was set to 10!

I tried turning it off with the footswitch, but nothing would happen. I was able to adjust the reverb level at that point with the knob, but it wouldn't shut off. I switched over to a different preset and then went back to my 65 Twin, and everything was then working just as it should. Didn't have another issue with it for the rest of the night (which was about another 1.5 hours of playing).

Has this happened to anyone? Naturally, it makes me nervous to think about this kind of thing happening during a gig. Should I just write this off as a fluke and hope it doesn't happen again? Not sure it's yet worth talking to Fender customer service... if it happens a second time, then for sure I will.

Thanks

Hi ElectroTele,

Thanks for your post. This is something that should not be happening under normal circumstances. I am wondering if you had a chance (or can) to try running the amp for a rehearsal without the foot switch connected. Then run the amp with the foot switch connected for the next. This might be a reasonable to way to narrow down whether or not the foot switch may be affecting the state of the Preset due to a possible hardware issue with the foot switch or the connecting cable.

The other possibility (although less likely) is that there may be an issue with the encoder on the amp. However, it sounds like it has only happened the one time at this point. So, I would start with double checking the foot switch. And see how that goes. If you continue to encounter the issue, please let us know. And we will be happy to assist further.

Best Regards,

Alan

Thanks for the response. I'll play a bunch this weekend with and without the footswitch and see what happens...
