Hi Guys,

I recently bought a Boss RC-3 loop station. I tried using it in my effects loop of Fender Mustang III v.2. I double checked the send and return if its connected right, but there's no sound coming out of my guitar. I also set the utility to looper pedal yet no sound from my guitar. There's no problem with the volume of my guitar, boss RC-3 (I use VS one spot for the power) cable and input jack.

Help please. Thanks

Just an update, I tried using another pedal but with true bypass. During off and on it worked. Now it seemed my Boss RC-3 is not compatible with Mustang III v.2?

The effects loop on the Mustang is a perfectly normal loop. There is no reason for the RC-3 not to work with it. In fact, I'm sure I've seen posts on this forum from people reporting using the Boss looper pedals very successfully with their Mustang amps.

You have confirmed with another pedal that your fx-loop is working properly, so there is no fault with the amp.

Next step: can you confirm if the RC-3 itself works correctly? You could try it in the fx-loop of another amp, or (purely for testing, you wouldn't normally use it this way) connect it in-line between the guitar and amp input. Can you get sound out of the RC-3 in any configuration? Do you have the controls/levels on the RC-3 set for it actually to produce sound? Remember, with the RC-3 in your fx-loop, ALL the sound is passing through the RC-3, even the plain guitar sound, even when you're not recording or playing back with the RC-3. I'm not familiar with the RC-3's controls, but it probably has a 'pass-through' or 'direct' volume setting, etc, to control this.

Finally, please confirm exactly how you have connected the RC-3 in your Mustang's fx-loop. Exactly which sockets are connected to which other sockets, etc.

And finally finally: for the purposes of just getting going with the RC-3, the UTIL setting for the fx-loop isn't relevant. Other topics discuss this setting in detail; once you've got the basics working, suggest you search those topics to understand that setting.

I have both the Boss rc3 and Mustang 3 V2, the rc3 works like a charm.

Please ensure than when you switch on the Mustang to hit the util button.

Scroll to FX Loop Position. (hit util 7 times)

Ensure to set at Looper Pedal instead of Normal.

Guitar connect to input Fender Mustang.

RC3 Input from Send Mustang Rear FX Loop connection.

RC3 Output to Return Mustang rear FX Loop connection.

I was going to post my own question until I noticed this one..

I have a mustang 3 and a 5, starts with the 3 and upgraded for gigs. My RC-10 and Mustang 3 work amazing together. The amps effects loop independently, clean, overdrive over top etc and doesn't effect the drums. I hook everything the exact same way on my 5 and the loops effect it differently, as I change presets all loop laid down have the effect. From what I understand its position in the fx-loop has changed?

Then I notice everyone saying "in the utility go to fx-loop". I have a V2 of each and I don't have this option?! I think that is what I need to change but can't access it. Anyone know why? Is there a way to adjust the position in the fx-loop?

And jamshidcalma... I got off topic sorry lol

Just to make sure, you are plugging your guitar into the input of your Mustang and not the input of the RC correct? You can connect through "your input 2" of the RC (I only have the RC3 so I don't know what you have for inputs), but you will get very low volume and no FX.
