I have had a Mustang II for maybe three years now and I have come to the end I feel with this amp, I have tried different speakers, "Fender Lightning bolt" "Celestion V30, G12T75" "Eminence Private Jack" "Fender Special design 75watt", I have opened the back of the amp, and really tried all I can to get a sound I like on Fuse, but I still feel the sounds lack depth. does any one have any advice for me.
I have a Superchamp X2, Silverface twin, silverface vibrochamp, Princeton 65, red knob deluxe 85 and Princeton chorus and Marshall valvestate and Epiphone blues twin so I have amps to compare it to.
Please someone help me.

Maybe it is not an "hardware" problem but a setup problem...

Try approach differently your "knobs"...

Or Tell us something more...

What guitar do you use?

What sound are you searching for?

Hmmm, a personal opinion... the Mustangs have so many different sounds built-in to them, so many different amp models, so many cab/speaker emulations, etc... I can't think of any need to change the physical speaker in the amp. Moreover, given that the cab emulations are tuned to the actual speaker that Fender supplies, I can't imagine that changing the speaker is going to improve anything. With an amp like the Mustang, time is better spent dialling-in a good tone from the software options, rather than changing the amp components themselves. If someone feels the amp is so unsuited to their purpose that they need to do that, then maybe it isn't the right amp in the first place.

(It reminds me of a common theme one reads in valve/tube amp forums: "I bought this fantastic amp, all I had to do was change the tubes, rectifier, capacitors, transformers, wiring, speakers, [etc...] and now it sounds great!" Hmmm, so hardly a fantastic amp in the first place - or did all the changes make no difference and it was just fine before the owner felt the need to tinker? :-) )

I find it somewhat curious that the first reaction here was not about tweaking the models or the settings of those models, but about changing hardware. One of the themes I find most consistent with people new to the concept of amp modeling is they often don't know where to start in getting their tone. The reality on modeling amps, or software for that matter, is you have to start from a known baseline which is the amp model. The OP mentions he has a twin, a champ, and a Princeton all of which are available models at least on the Version 2 Mustang. So I would think if he's found the tones he likes there, that's where he should start on the Mustang and work from that.

I'm not as familiar with the Mustang II, but I do have experience with the III and the IV and I will say there are subtle differences in EQ between the two models. I chased after a tone I wanted from a Deluxe Reverb at one point on both models. The IV captured it quickly simply by copying the volume, gain, and tone settings from the Deluxe. It was a bit tougher on the III probably due to the fact it was a single speaker and I had to compensate on some of the EQ to capture it. But I write that off to the fact the Deluxe and the IV are both dual speakers.

I'm not trying to be clever.. but sell the M II and get an M III - especially if you are used to bigger amps and speakers

I had an MII and the difference to the M III is massive - I liked my MII a lot but I wanted the LED controller and the sound improvement was much more than I expected.

I had the Mustang for a year before I found stuff I really thought was more than worth the money. I kept going back to my pathfinder and wondering why it sounded better in some ways.

But I was an amp and playing newb, so I had a lot of stuff to learn. Once I started upping the preset volumes of the models (not the master) I started to get some good sounds. I downloaded a couple of Shane (in the blues) presets, and looking at what he'd done gave me some pointers about dialing in sounds.

I don't know what you call 'depth' in sound, but a modelling amp is a capable jack of all trades, not a master of any.

I agree with others, changing speakers is a waste of time and money, this is not a tube amp - the sounds are in there. If you have tube amps it models you shuld be able to get very clsoe to those.

The ONLY way I like the sound of the Mustang (I and II- I have both) is to change the speaker cabinet (the simulated speaker cab, that is) on FUSE.
If you haven't used FUSE yet, it's a must for picky ears.
Also, the ONLY cabinets I like are the SS112 and the SS212.
Those two cabs sound far better than any other speaker (sim) on the amp, IMO.

I use both the SS112 and SS212 with the 59 Bassman amp and the SS212 with the Marshall 70's amp.

LOL is always interesting to hear different opinions when it relates to taste.
In my case, when I create a new preset, I always try at some point the SS112 and SS212 but I always end up using the Princeton Cab, without exception.
I heard others always using only 2x12C, and some others only use the 4G cabinet, and lately somebody that says that the best option is always to turn off cabinet emulation completely ... So i guess definitely there are no absolutes here

It is crazy- sound is all personal taste- total subjectivity.

Also, different players have different needs regarding the situation they play in and so forth.
