HI! I've just noticed that there are no Mustang Minis for sale on eBay or Amazon. This strikes me as odd, having bought my Mini on Amazon. The other Mustang amps seem in good supply -- It's just the Minis be missing. Discontinued? Short supply? Items of mass destruction?

I'm not happy with mine anyway due to its not having a way to bypass all the fancy stuff and just be a nice portable amp. (It should also not require me to press an extra button to change an effect's level nor adjust the bass.) Hey, did everyone figure this out before I did?

Dear donaldmoon,

Thanks for your post. Please find enclosed a link below if you are interested in purchasing a Mustang™ Mini. I've also included a link for the Mustang Mini advanced users guide in the event you didn't have one and you can see if there's an easier way to do some of the steps you currently are performing. I hope these help and please feel free to contact us if you need further assistance.

Well, you've bought an advanced modelling amp, so by definition it includes 'fancy stuff' - but that's the whole point of it. I agree that if you just want a plain solid-state portable amp with no effects or tone-shaping etc, the Mustang may not be the right choice.

However, the Mustang does have a way to do pretty much what you want. Select a preset with a 'clean' amp model such as the 65 Twin Reverb. Turn off all the effects, then 'Save' the preset. Now you have a straightforward amp - and in my opinion one that's better than a plain SS amp would be, because you have the nice tone of a 65 Twin Reverb rather than the bland tone of SS circuitry.

If you use FUSE to do this, you can 'Save' your updated preset back into the amp's default power-on preset position, which gets you even closer to your desired goal.

For the bass... this is an unfortunate consequence of there not being enough room on the amp's control panel for enough knobs.

Regarding changing the level of other effects, I thought you didn't want any of those, so I'm not sure why changing them is a problem? Again this is a consequence of having a lot of features in an amp with a limited control panel - there just isn't room for enough buttons/knobs for everything to have its own dedicated control. You may have a preference for which 'missing' control should have its own knob - someone else will want a different one - there's no way for Fender to cater for everyone's need here.

The larger amps in the Mustang series have more/better on-amp controls. But I'm guessing they aren't suitable for you if you want portability (batteries, size/weight, etc). You could also use FUSE with a laptop connected to the amp; that retains portability and gives you a lot more control.

Finally, note there have already been many requests already on this forum for Fender to produce 'pro' versions of the Mustang (higher quality components, particularly sockets) and 'studio' versions (pro quality and with all features / knobs of the large amps, but in a compact, low power amp).

And finally finally - a quick search suggests the Mustang Mini is still widely available here in UK. Whether that's just old stock or confirmation that it's still in production, I don't know.
